Moroccan government authorities with whom it regularly serves as an advisor on civic education matters. Civic education programs offered by MCCE include: Foundations for Democracy for primary school students and Project Citizen for middle school students. The civic education programs that are promoted by MCCE have also been adapted for use by the NGO community in Morocco so out-of-school youth also have access to civic education programming. MCCE has active civic education programs in 10 of Morocco’s 16 regions. The MCCE works closely with governmental and non-governmental organizations across Morocco and has the steadfast support of the Higher Council for Education, the education advisory authority of HM Mohamed VI, King of Morocco, and is linked to the Ministry of Education, with whom a partnership agreement was signed in 2008. MCCE has significant leadership and staff development potential, as well as on-the-ground experience with a demonstrated capacity to conduct conferences, implement training workshops, and host international events as well as smaller delegations, including visiting teams of US congressional staffers, civic education experts, and exchange groups of teachers and administrators from the MENA region, Europe, the U.S. MCCE’s activities are regularly featured in local, national and international media including major Arabic and French newspapers, television programming, and radio broadcasts. MCCE cultivates grant-based partnerships and has worked on several important projects. The Civic Education Partnership Initiative (CEPI), a three-year project with Bowling Green State University and then Maryville University in St. Louis funded by Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and USAID through HED, has designed a stand-alone civic education curriculum for 9th grade students and for teacher educators which has been piloted and implemented in six provinces. MCCE has also actively worked on a two-year project funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) that supports the engagement of civil society in Morocco’s elections through the use of a thematic Project Citizen curriculum. MCCE remains actively involved in the Civitas International Network partnership that includes South Africa, Poland, Ukraine and four US States (Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, and Ohio) focused on sharing curricular innovations across cultures. MCCE was recently named as the Civitas International Regional Institute. MCCE has recently developed a partnership with the University of Ottawa, Canada to establish a satellite campus in Morocco and started implementing civic education projects in partnership with the British Council, Morocco. Finally, MCCE was recognized as the MEPI Alumni local chapter in Morocco.

The Moroccan Centre for Civic Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two esteemed partners:
the African Foundation for Lifelong Learning (FA-ATLV) and the International Council for
Adult Education (ICAE).
This partnership agreement is a direct response to the global call for action issued at the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII), held in Marrakesh, Morocco, in June 2022. The foundation of this MOU is the Marrakesh Framework for Action,
a landmark document endorsed by representatives from over 140 countries. The Framework establishes a global commitment to translating the right to lifelong learning into a tangible reality, ensuring that Adult Learning and Education (ALE) remains a key pillar of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
By joining forces, our three organizations aim to bridge the gap between policy and practice. This cooperation will focus on several key areas, including:
• Capacity Building: Strengthening the skills of educators and practitioners in Morocco and across Africa.
• Policy Advocacy: Advancing the goals of the Marrakesh Framework to ensure adult education remains a priority in national development agendas.
• Research and Evaluation: Promoting evidence-based research in the fields of adult education and lifelong learning. This partnership will serve as a catalyst for innovation in lifelong learning and global citizenship education across Morocco and the continent. We are committed to fostering
a culture of continuous learning that empowers individuals to navigate the challenges of the 21st century.
