The sunset over the Merzouga dunes is like watching the Sahara catch fire and then breathe. As the sun sinks toward the horizon, the endless waves of golden sand in Erg Chebbi shift from pale gold to molten copper, then deep amber and burning rose. Long shadows stretch between the ripples, carving the dunes into sculpture, while the sky above bleeds into layers of orange, violet, and soft pink. The air turns still and warm, carrying only the whisper of wind and the distant echo of camel bells. For a few perfect minutes the whole desert glows, silent and infinite, before the cool blue of night rises and the first stars prick the sky above the dunes.
