Secrets of Fes presents the Sabah Tul Rijal of Bab F’tuh:
Directly in front of the Mausoleum of Sidi Yusuf & Sidi Abd Al-Rahman Al-Fassi stands a small whitewashed mausoleum, knows as the Qubbah of the Sabah Tul Rijal- Dome of The Seven Men.
There is very little to no information about them, but since their passing to the present day, tradition stipulates that under the dome lay 7 (although some say 10) martyrs who returned wounded from the Battle of Wadi Al- Makhāzin after fighting alongside Sidi Yusuf Al-Fassi.
The Battle of Wadi Al-Makhāzin took place in the year 982AH. It was a major confrontation between the Saadian Sultanate of Morocco and a Portuguese army under King Sebastian, who attempted to attack Morocco with a Christian fleet, the likes of which had never been seen before.
The battle resulted in a decisive Moroccan victory in which the invading forces were annihilated, and the king of Portugal was slain.
Whilst the mausoleum is inaccessible, salutations and prayers are offered from the exterior.
Ziyara Mubarak!
