🗓️ 3-Day Desert Itinerary **Marrakech to the Erg Chegaga dunes
Day 1 — Marrakech → High Atlas → Zagora / M’hamid
Depart early from Marrakech over the Tizi n’Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains.
Stop at Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO kasbah) and Ouarzazate.
Continue via the lush Draa Valley toward the Sahara edge.
Overnight in a hotel/guesthouse in Zagora or M’hamid.
Day 2 — M’hamid → Erg Chegaga Dunes
Drive into the desert by 4×4 across off-road terrain (~60 km to the dunes).
Camel ride and explore the majestic dunes at sunset.
Camp under the stars in a desert bivouac or luxury tent.
Day 3 — Desert → Return to Marrakech
After sunrise in the dunes, leave for the return trip.
Drive across the dried Iriqui Lake and stop in villages like Foum Zguid or Taznakht for lunch and stops.
Arrive back in Marrakech by late afternoon/evening.
🐪 What to Expect
Spectacular landscapes: mountains, the Draa palm valley, desert plains, and vast sand dunes.
Long drives: Much of the trip involves driving, so expect ~6-8 hrs on the first and last days.
Activities: 4×4 desert travel, camel riding, sunset/sunrise views, starlit nights.
