During our 3-day Sustainable Atlas Mountains Experience, we arrived in the beautiful Amazigh village of Megdaz and were lucky enough to witness something truly special: a local wedding celebration.
The rhythmic sounds of Ahwach, one of Morocco’s most treasured Amazigh dance traditions, filled the village as men and women came together to celebrate with music, poetry, and dance. It wasn’t a performance for tourists—it was a real moment of community, joy, and heritage that we were privileged to experience with respect.
These are the moments that make slow, sustainable travel so meaningful. No itinerary can promise them, but by traveling responsibly, supporting local communities, and spending time in remote villages, you open the door to authentic connections that stay with you forever.
