โ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ด๐ผ๐๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ (plural of Agadir) are the impressive fortified communal granaries found across the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountains of Morocco. These structures are powerful symbols of the ancient ingenuity and social organization of the Indigenous Amazigh (Berber) people.

โCommunal Storehouse: For centuries, Igoudar were used to store essential goods, primarily grain (barley), oil, and dates, as well as family treasures like money, jewelry, and documents. This dual function has led them to be called one of ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ'๐ ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐น "๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ป๐ธ๐."
โFortress: Built in defensible, often elevated locations using dry-stone masonry or rammed earth, they served as a fortress to protect the entire community's wealth from raids or famine.
โArchitecture: They feature massive, multi-story walls, with a central alleyway flanked by rows of small, private storage cells (one per family).

โSocial Cohesion: Their operation was governed by strict customary Amazigh laws.
โThe Amin: Each granary was managed by a respected, elected key-holder and guardian known as the Amin, who ensured fair access and maintenance according to the rules.
โThough many are now abandoned, the Igoudar remain enduring monuments to the collective resilience and sophisticated traditional governance of the Amazigh people in harsh environments.
