The Bahia Palace is a mid- to late-19th-century palace in Marrakech, Morocco. Construction of the palace was begun by Si Moussa, Grand Vizier of the Alawite Sultan Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, in the 1860s. It was expanded by his son Si Ba Ahmed ibn Moussa, Grand Vizier of Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz, between 1894 and 1900. Today, it is a well-known historical monument and tourist attraction in the city.

Sijilmassa was a medieval Berber city, today in ruins, two kilometers north of the current Moroccan city of Rissani; four hundred and fifty kilometers away from Fez, crossing the Atlas Mountains. It was an important caravan stopover on the routes that connected the Mediterranean with west-central Africa through the Sahara desert. Its emplacement and location were due to the strategic advantages provided by the Ziz River and the Tafilalt oasis.
