Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms today , past, present, soon-to-be moms, and those no longer with us but forever in our hearts. 💐

Today has me reflecting on just how much my own mom shaped the path of my life.

As soon as I could, I wanted to leave school, Mom only allowed this if I learnt a skill, so off I went to secretarial college for a year.

I learnt typing, shorthand (which I only used once in my first job.. then went back to my desk and couldn’t read my own shorthand notes 😂 From then on, we did dictation), telex, which few would not even have heard of, bookkeeping, and telephonist training (the receptionist role of today!).

Those skills eventually led me into the travel industry… and here I am, 40 years later.

Over those four decades, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the globe, but more importantly, help plan thousands of trips for thousands of wonderful people. None of it would have happened without my mom’s guidance, encouragement and belief in me.

Sadly, I lost my beautiful mom to ovarian cancer when she was only 57. But her unconditional love, strength, wisdom, and zest for life and travel continue to live on through me every single day.

Today, alongside my three beautiful girls, whom I am so incredibly proud of. We took part in the Mother’s Day Classic to help raise funds for breast and ovarian cancer research.

I wanted to share a few photos of my mom, and of my girls who continue to make me proud every day.

Life is precious. Make every day count, cherish your people, and live this beautiful life to the fullest. ❤️

Should I stay or should I go? ✈️🌍

It’s the question on everyone’s lips as we head into Europe’s peak season.

The good news? We’re seeing more flights resume each day, particularly with Middle Eastern carriers, which many Australians rely on due to their extensive networks and seamless connections throughout Europe. Operations are steadily increasing (currently sitting around 60–70% on some affected routes).

Even more encouraging, countries like Germany have recently removed “do not travel” warnings for several Middle Eastern transit hubs. Australia still has these advisories in place for now, but we’re hopeful this will evolve soon.

So, what does this actually mean for you?

If you have a tour, cruise, conference or special event booked, the reality on the ground is that things are continuing as planned. From my own recent time in Europe, it really is business as usual. (pic of me in Rome just before boarding the Sapphire Princess for a Mediterranean sailing in March,)

Of course, there can still be occasional disruptions, but that’s where I come in.

Right now, 98% of my clients travelling to Europe are continuing with their plans, and having an experienced agent in your corner means you’re supported every step of the way if anything changes.

If you’re feeling unsure about your upcoming trip, reach out I’m here to guide you through it.

💬 Your travel plans deserve more than guesswork.

Throwback moment! ✨
Who remembers getting a hand written ticket for a coach?
Guess I might be showing my age here 😄
This week I visited the MOVE Museum and came across these old beauties (no… not me in the pic 😉) a vintage APT coach from the 40s and a Pioneer from the 50s.

Seeing them took me back to when I first started in the travel industry, when everything was handwritten… even coach and flight tickets!

These coaches are even older than my time, but they definitely brought back some fond memories. Thought I’d share a little slice of travel history with you all ❤️

Sometimes… travel doesn’t go to plan ✨

An hour delay on our first train meant we missed three connections and, instead of arriving in Tirano, we found ourselves unexpectedly overnighting in Milan. Stress levels were high, there was a lot of running for trains, and for a moment it felt like everything was unravelling…

But this is exactly why we travel 💙

The next day, we finally boarded the breathtaking Bernina Express, and it was more than worth every hurdle.

Climbing over 2,200 metres through the Swiss Alps, the journey is nothing short of magical. The train zigzags its way up the mountains, gaining elevation in spectacular fashion, until you’re surrounded by a white blanket of snow-covered peaks.

Highlights along the way:

❄️ Le Prese – a beautiful lakeside village, where the train runs right alongside the water
❄️ Poschiavo – a charming, UNESCO-listed village full of character
❄️ Alp Grüm & the Bernina Pass – reaching 2,253 metres at the summit
❄️ Pontresina – a resort that flourished thanks to early British love for the Alps
❄️ St. Moritz – home to one of Europe’s highest airports (1,707 metres)
❄️ Chur – the oldest city in Switzerland

At one point, the train even feels like a tram, gliding through village streets—completely surreal.

The line itself dates back to the early 1900s and is powered by hydroelectric energy, making it as impressive technically as it is visually.

Despite everything that went wrong… this journey exceeded all expectations.

A true fairytale experience—and an absolute must-do ❤️

Amalfi Coast Magic 🇮🇹✨

What a day to remember exploring the breathtaking Amalfi Coast straight off our cruise, and even more special sharing it with my incredible 81-year-old Aunty 💛

From history to food to views… this place is something else:

• Naples — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with layers of history (literally a city beneath a city!)
• Mount Vesuvius — still active, last erupted in 1944
• Pompeii — one of the world’s most visited archaeological sites, frozen in time
• Rich volcanic soil = the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste 🍅

And the FOOD… wow:
• Authentic pizza margherita (
• Strong Italian espresso — and yes, they really do drink several a day ☕
• Fresh mozzarella from local dairy farms in the mountains 🧀

Sorrento stole our hearts:
• Famous lemon groves — lemons everywhere! 🍋
• Limoncello, lemon desserts, lemon EVERYTHING
• Known for olive oil production and beautiful coastal views

We also soaked in:
• Stunning Amalfi Coast beaches and cliffside towns
• Positano — postcard-perfect and once home to Sophia Loren

Fun fact: Amalfi was once one of the richest maritime republics in Italy and even had its own currency — how amazing is that!

Grateful for these moments, these views, and making memories across generations 💫

✨ Sizzling Sicily – Where Volcanoes Meet the Sea

Arriving early morning into Catania by cruise ship, we were greeted by the most breathtaking sight… the mighty Mount Etna 🌋
Beautiful blue skies, she stood tall and powerful, its peak dusted with snow, an incredible contrast to the warm Sicilian morning.

From there, we explored the stunning hilltop towns of Taormina and Castelmola, both offering postcard-perfect views, charming streets, and that relaxed Italian lifestyle we all dream about 🇮🇹

💡 A few fascinating facts about Sicily:
• One of the oldest continuously inhabited regions in the world.
• In cities like Catania, there’s a “city beneath the city,” with ancient ruins below modern streets
• Pizza Margherita tastes even better in its homeland!
• Italians take their coffee seriously—expect multiple strong espressos a day ☕
• Population: around 5 million, with most people living along the coastline
• Palermo is the vibrant capital
• Summers can be very hot (often 40–45°C), while Etna is snow-capped in winter
• Mount Etna stands at around 3,000+ metres and is Europe’s most active volcano—often gently “smoking”
• Volcanic soil makes the land incredibly fertile, perfect for growing crops like wheat and more
• Much of the local architecture uses volcanic stone, giving towns their unique character.

Sicily truly is a destination of contrasts of fire and snow, ancient and modern, relaxed yet full of life. A place that leaves a lasting impression long after you’ve sailed away 💙

P.s Don't forget to taste the Silician Wine 🍷

Magnificent Malta 🇲🇹✨

A tiny island with a BIG story… Malta is packed with history, culture, and sun-soaked beauty. Sitting just a short 1.5-hour ferry ride from Sicily, it’s the perfect destination to combine with Italy for an unforgettable European adventure.

With a population of around 570,000 and covering just 316 square kilometres, Malta proves that great things really do come in small packages. Shaped by over 8,000 years of history, its cities glow with warm limestone architecture, giving the island that signature golden “honey” hue.

The Mdina… the “Silent City” with only a handful of residents, where stepping through its gates feels like stepping back in time. Look out for the horse and carts.

Malta is one of those destinations that surprises you in the best way… rich in history, easy to explore, and full of Mediterranean charm.

Thinking of hiring a car...easy when they drive on the same side of the road, 🚗

Did you know where in Greece the Olympic Games were born? 🇬🇷

On a recent visit to Katakolon (just about 3.5 hours from Athens, though I arrived by ship), I had the chance to see Olympia, the legendary birthplace of the Olympics, only a 35-minute drive from the port.

It’s incredible to imagine the history that unfolded there. The ancient ruins and original stadium are a powerful reminder of where it all began.

A must-know stop when visiting this part of Greece, rich in history and culture at every turn.
