INFORMATION FOR PLANNING YOUR VACATION IN MOROCCO

+WHAT LANGUAGE IS SPOKEN IN MOROCCO ?
Morocco has two official languages, Modern Standard Arabic and Standard Moroccan Tamazight, though you’ll primarily hear people speaking Moroccan Arabic, which is very different from Standard Arabic. It’s so different that the dialect is almost incomprehensible to the rest of the Arab world outside North Africa.
You may also hear people speaking French, and in the rural areas where the Amazigh people live, you’ll hear various dialects of Tamazight. English is becoming more widely spoken in towns and cities, though not so much in more rural areas. However, we’ll pair you with guides who speak good English.

+ WHAT IS THE CURRENCY OF MOROCCO ?
The currency in Morocco is the Moroccan dirham (Dh), which is divided into 100 centimes. Notes come in denominations of Dhs 20, 50, 100, and 200 and coins in 10, 20, and 50 centimes, as well as Dhs 1, 2, 5, and 10.
Moroccan dirham is a closed currency, which means you typically can only obtain it once you’re in the country and you can’t take it back home with you afterwards. There are ATMs in all major towns and airports where you can withdraw currency.

+WHAT FOOD AND DRINK SHOULD I TRY IN MOROCCO ?
In Morocco, we recommend trying tagine, a sweet and sour stew cooked in an earthenware pot, and couscous, steamed semolina grains topped with roasted chicken, lamb, or steamed vegetables. Moroccan cuisine is often lemony with plenty of fresh herbs and spices, as well as sweet, dried fruits. At the street food markets, you can also try succulent kebabs and babbouche, a rich broth containing slow-cooked snails and spices.
To drink, try atay, a traditional Moroccan mint tea sweetened with sugar and poured into small drinking glasses from a height. You could also sample some of Morocco’s tangy orange juice, squeezed right before your eyes.

+HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP IN MOROCCO ?
Tipping is expected for every service provided in Morocco, no matter how small, so you should leave around a 10% tip in restaurants and a few small coins in cafes. You should also tip guides, drivers, porters, and all other people who have provided a genuine service. We can give you more information on how much to tip each before you travel.

🌎 THE TANNERIES OF FES IN MOROCCO ✈
The tanneries of Fes are one of the city's most iconic sights. Leather has been processed here for centuries using traditional methods.
Our local guide will explain each step of the tanning process, from rawhide to finished leather goods. The strong smell may be noticeable, but this is a unique glimpse into an ancient craft that has remained mostly unchanged.

A 03-DAY ADVENTURE IN MOROCCO : DISCOVER THE BEST OF THE DESERT & MOUNTAINS

+You have only three days of holiday, and you wonder if it's enough to travel somewhere and enjoy a memorable sightseeing experience. The answer is a resounding "Yes!" And the perfect destination? Morocco. In just three days, you can embark on an unforgettable adventure from Marrakech that will take you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes and iconic landmarks in the country.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS & KASBAH
+Your adventure begins as you depart from Marrakech, heading towards the High Atlas Mountains. As you wind your way up the Tizin-Tichka Pass, the highest in North Africa, you’ll be surrounded by stunning views of rugged peaks and Berber villages nestled into the hillsides.

Your first major stop is the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ancient fortified village has been featured in numerous Hollywood films and TV shows, earning it the nickname “Hollywood of Africa.” Walking through the narrow streets of this historic kasbah feels like stepping back in time.

From there, you’ll travel to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert and another popular filming location. Explore the old Kasbah of Taourirt before heading to the beautiful Rose Valley, famous for its fragrant Damask roses that bloom in the spring.

EXPLORING VALLEYS & GORGES
+The second day brings you to the stunning Dades Valley and the towering Todra Gorges. As you travel through the Dades Valley, you’ll be greeted by picturesque views of red cliffs, lush green oases, and scattered kasbahs. The valley is also known for its unique rock formations that have been shaped by the wind and water over millennia.

At the Todra Gorges, you’ll be amazed by the towering canyon walls that rise nearly 300 meters (980 feet) on either side. It’s a popular spot for hikers and climbers, but even a short walk through the gorge will leave you in awe of its sheer size and beauty.

SAHARA DESERT ADVENTURE
+Your final day is all about the Sahara Desert. First, you’ll visit the fossil quarries of Erfoud, where you can learn about the region’s rich geological history and perhaps even pick up a fossil souvenir. Then, it’s time to head deeper into the desert.

A highlight of your trip will be a camel ride at sunset across the golden dunes of the Sahara. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting warm hues over the sand, you’ll feel the magic of the desert wash over you.

In the evening, you’ll arrive at a luxury camp in the heart of the desert. Spend the night under the stars in a traditional Berber tent, enjoying the peaceful solitude of the Sahara. Around a campfire, you can share stories with fellow travelers and experience the warm hospitality of the desert.

TRAVEL ON A BUDGET
+Worried about your budget? Don’t be! I recommend opting for a shared tour, which is a more affordable option. Not only will this help you save money, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity to meet people from different cultures and countries, adding an enriching social aspect to your journey.

In just three days, you’ll experience the beauty of Morocco’s mountains, valleys, and desert—all without breaking the bank. So pack your bags and get ready for an adventure that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
