They are often found at Dayet Srij, a seasonal salt lake located just west of Merzouga. The presence of flamingos and other migratory birds depends on the water levels in the lake, which fluctuates with rainfall.
Birdwatchers often visit Dayet Srij, particularly in the winter and spring, when the lake is more likely to have water and attract these beautiful birds. There have been recent reports of flamingos returning to Merzouga after several years, making it an exciting time for sightings.

A 3-day tour from Marrakech to Chefchaouen is a fantastic way to experience Morocco's diverse landscapes, from the bustling Red City to the serene blue streets of the Rif Mountains. Here's a well-paced itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech → Rabat → Chefchaouen
- Morning: Depart early from Marrakech (around 7 AM) and drive towards Rabat (about 3.5 hours). 
- Stop in Rabat: Explore Morocco's capital—visit the *Hassan Tower*, *Kasbah of the Udayas*, and *Chellah Necropolis*. Have lunch by the Bou Regreg River. 
- *Afternoon: Continue the drive to Chefchaouen (4-5 hours) through scenic Rif Mountains. 
- *Evening:* Arrive in Chefchaouen, check into a riad, and enjoy a relaxed dinner in the medina.

- Day 2: Exploring Chefchaouen
- *Morning:* Wander the famous **blue-washed streets*, visit the * Spanish Mosque* for panoramic views, and explore the *Ras El Maa waterfall*. 
- *Afternoon:* Lunch at a local café, then visit *Place Outa El Hammam*, the main square, and the *Kasbah Museum*. 
- *Evening:* Optional short hike to **Jebel El Kelaa** for sunset or more relaxed exploration of the medina. 

- Day 3: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Marrakech* 
- Morning: Depart early for *Volubilis* (2.5-hour drive), a stunning Roman ruin site. Spend 1-2 hours exploring. 
- Midday: Stop in *Meknes* (30 min from Volubilis), visit *Bab Mansour*, *Moulay Ismail Mausoleum*, and *Heri es-Souani*. Lunch in Meknes. 
- *Afternoon:* Long drive back to Marrakech (5-6 hours) with a possible rest stop in *Beni Mellal*. 
- Evening : Arrive in Marrakech by late evening
