حصيلة مؤقتة:
- أفراد من الجيش قاموا بانقاذ 7 ركاب (اغلب الظن أنهم من المتمسكين بالسياج).
- عناصر الوقاية المدنية قامت بانقاذ 4 ركاب (أغلب الظن أنهم من العالقين داخل الحافلة).
المعلومة التي اتوفر عليها (إلى الآن) هي أن 11 راكبا تم انقاذهم بينما أخبرني شاهد أن بعض الركاب الذين يتقنون السباحة قد انقذوا أنفسهم بأنفسهم.
يقوم عدد من عناصر الوقاية والقوات المساعدة والجيش بمجهود كبير لانقاذ الأرواح لكنهم يواجهون عقبتين:
1 - انعدام اللوجستيك والمعدات المخصصة لهذا النوع من الكوارث.
2 - غياب المعلومة الدقيقة حول عدد الركاب في الحافلة وهويات بعضهم.
في طاطا قرى أخرى محاصرة لكن الإقليم مترامي ومقطع الاوصال بفعل الأودية الكثيرة التي هشمت القناطر وقطعت الطرق.

Son territoire, qui était autrefois une étape dans le commerce transsaharien, est devenu un point de départ d'excursions dans le désert, notamment vers les dunes de l'erg Chegaga.
La commune de M'Hamid El Ghizlane a pour coordonnées géographiques : 29° 43′ 58″ N, 5° 57′ 25″ O2. Elle se trouve au sud de la province de Zagora et au sud-est de la région de Souss-Massa-Draa3, le long de la vallée du Draa, à l'extrémité de la N9 en venant de Zagora(94 km), le chef-lieu de sa province, via Tamegroute (78 km) et Fezouata (68 km)4. Elle est bordée :
au nord, par la commune rurale de Tagounite, également dans la province de Zagora3 ;
au sud, par l"Algérie.
Elle fait partie d'une aire de nomadisme5 et abrite, à une altitude d'environ 500 m2, une oasis, avec une palmeraie s'étendant jusqu'à l'oued Draa, qui sépare les villages (ou quartiers) de M'Hamid Bali (l'ancien M'Hamid) et M'Hamid Jdid (le nouveau M'Hamid)6.
M'Hamid El Ghizlane (in Berber : ⵜⴰⵔⴰⴳⴰⵍⵜ Taragalt, in Arabic: محاميد الغزلان for 'plain of gazelles') is a small oasis town in southern Morocco (Zagora Province in the Drâa-Tafilalet Region) with about 7500 inhabitants.

M'Hamid lies at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level and about 24 kilometers from the Algerian border at the edge of the Sahara. M'Hamid can be reached at the end of National Route 9 from Ouarzazate (260 km) via Zagora (approx. 97 km). Mhamid lies on the Wadi Draa, which rarely contains water.
History
About the early history of the place is little is known because of the lack of written records.
The spacious palm oases, however, make an early settlement support (about 3000 BC) likely. Due to the growth of the desert, the settlement is threatened since the 2nd half of the 20th century by siltation, and the population is declining steadily. Until the end of the 1980s a special permit was required to enter the area because it is close to the strategically important border with Algeria. Even today, many soldiers stationed in the area of Mhamid.
Hidden in the palm oases of M'Hamid are seven old, now almost uninhabited, and decaying ksars. Approximately 50-60 kilometers away lie the sometimes more than 100 meters high sand dunes of Erg Chigaga, which are less often visited by tourists than those in Merzouga.
