Very glad to share photos of the oryx that appeared in the desert of the Zagora region. The presence of six individuals of the white oryx (also known as the Arabian oryx) has been documented in the heart of the Mahamid Desert, Zagora Province, Kingdom of Morocco. These images mark the first photographic record of this species in the region since the Water and Forests Agency released a number of them as part of a project to reintroduce gazelles to their native habitats. The white oryx, one of the rarest gazelle species in the world, is threatened with extinction due to hunting and habitat loss. Its appearance in the Moroccan wilderness is a significant step toward its conservation and the restoration of the natural balance in the desert ecosystem. This documentation carries not only scientific and environmental value but also serves as a call to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife, respecting reintroduction efforts, and fostering a partnership between humanity and nature in a desert that continues to offer so much.Photographer: Omar El AchabLocation: Mahamid El Ghizlane Desert, Morocco
