opstinahercegnovi Katić:
Financial awards to Herzegovina firefighters
The Mayor of Herceg Novi Municipality, Stevan Katić, has decided that all members of the Herzegovina Protection and Rescue Service should be paid a cash reward for the sacrificed fight against the fires that hit our town in August.
"Their sacrifice, courage and professionalism, in times when fires threatened the lives of people, homes and citizens' property, have shown once again that they are an important backbone of our city in the most difficult moments."
Regardless of the risk and extremely difficult conditions on the field, they were up to the task, ready to protect others. Such commitment and responsibility represent values that Herceg Novi must especially value and respect.
That is why their work and
responsibility must be valued more because people who take care of the safety and lives of others every day deserve not only our gratitude, but also earnings corresponding to the weight and risk of the work they perform.
The municipality of Herceg Novi contributes to this by providing cash awards for members of the Protection and Rescue Service, and we believe that the issue of their earnings will be resolved legally in the long-term," said Katić.
He also announced sending the initiative to state institutions and bodies to define the increase of coefficients on their earnings by the Law in order to have higher salaries, as they deserve.
Once again, he thanked
everyone who came and helped Herceg Novi in extinguishing large-scale fires and on that behalf announced that, when the situation stabilizes in other municipalities, he will organize a reception for all services, DVD societies, associations, businesses and other participants.
