Apparently, we've been sharing GEA with more guests than we realised. 🐦🌿

Over the past year, we started occasionally switching on Merlin Bird ID while spending time around the estate. Created by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, its Sound ID listens to the birds around you and suggests which species may be singing or calling.

Little by little, our list grew. Out of simple curiosity, this has become another way of noticing how much life exists on this little piece of land. And we love knowing that GEA is part of these birds' journey. 🌿

Only by occasionally using the app, we have 27 different bird species to show you in this post - from Nightingales, Cuckoos and Golden Orioles to Woodpeckers, Owls, Bee-eaters and Ravens. And these are only the ones our phones managed to hear.

Maybe biodiversity begins with something as simple as paying attention to who else calls our home theirs.

For centuries, people have connected with plants not only through their effects on the body but also through folklore, symbolism, rituals, and energetics. These stories passed from one generation to another.

We live in a time when we need these stories more than ever, yet have never been more disconnected from the wisdom they carry.

Our latest GEA Journal story explores this forgotten language of plants and invites you to see some familiar herbs from a completely different perspective.

And when you visit GEA, many of these stories come alive during our Tea Tasting, where we sample local medicinal herbs, explore how they have traditionally supported the body, and discover the stories they carry. 🍵🌿

GEA was built by many hands. 🌿

Since 2023, volunteers from all around the world have arrived in our little village of Presjeka and become part of this place’s story.

They have planted and harvested with us.
Collected wood for winter.
Built fences.
Painted walls.
Made murals.
Helped create our Heart Trail, Barefoot Trail and yoga platform.
Picked seasonal fruit and turned it into homemade juice and jam.
Cooked, repaired, carried, cleaned, laughed, and shared everyday rural life with us.

They came from Latin America, the USA, countries across Europe and as far away as Australia. Some stayed for weeks. Some for months. Some returned. Many became friends.
🇻🇪🇺🇸🇦🇷🇺🇾🇨🇭🇨🇱🇦🇺🇪🇸🇨🇴🇲🇽

And the most beautiful part is that their contribution doesn’t disappear when they leave. Trees are growing because someone planted them. Trails being walked because someone helped build them. Food being harvested from gardens someone once worked in. Walls carrying someone else’s brushstrokes.

, to us, is also a beautiful form of responsible travel: an exchange of time, skills, cultures, stories and human connection that leaves something meaningful on both sides.

To every person who has shared their time, energy and heart with this place since 2023: THANK YOU. A little piece of you lives here. 💚

We spend so much time chasing sunlight that we forget how much we need darkness.

In naturopathy, for instance, health is deeply connected to circadian rhythm.
Not just what we eat. Not just how we move. But also how we respond to light and darkness.

For thousands of years, our biology followed the rising and setting of the Sun. Today, artificial light often extends our days far beyond sunset, quietly influencing our sleep, energy, hormones and overall wellbeing.

Perhaps darkness isn't something to fear.
Perhaps it's something we've forgotten to experience.
We need darkness. We need sleep and restoration.

On 12 August, we'll gather beneath one of Montenegro's darkest skies to witness the Perseid Meteor Shower, slow down, and reconnect with the natural rhythms that have always been part of us.
Because sometimes, healing begins when the lights go out.
