We made the transit to Croatia. Seeing that a boat was fined earlier this year for not stopping at Cavtat (the closest port of entry) to clear in, we stopped at Cavtat. We cleared into Croatia (and the EU) fine, but the harbor master doesn't work on weekends so we couldn't get our vignette until Monday. So, we could pay €60/night to anchor on our own with no services, or twice that (plus a €40 garbage fee) to stay on the town wall with limited services for two nights. The final option was to go on to Dubrovnik to get the vignette and proceed to our intended anchorage. We chose the latter and we're done in Dubrovnik promptly, but it would have been preferable to do it in one trip! Clearing in to Croatia from the south continues to be a confusing mess!

We realized we forgot to get our sailing vignette for Montenegro before we launched. Clearly out of practice. We dropped by a harbor master's office to rectify that and *hopefully* avoid the €100 fine! I think we're good, but I guess we find out this weekend when we clear out!

Hippokampos is wet! The yard workers had to really squeeze the travel lift in to pick her up. Honestly, their treatment seemed a bit hazardous, but not to us at least. If my boat was next to us, I'd be peeved about the exhaust on the hull!

All systems are functional, we're anchor down off Solila National Park and looking forward to a pleasant evening and night!

It's been a long time since I engaged in marlinspike seamanship. A new line for the outboard hoist gave me the opportunity to make a small eye splice in double braid. I don't think it's too bad for the first attempt in many years.

Ignore Jayne's comments about cursing though.

We have returned to Montenegro and Hippokampos! I would normally post a picture of her on the stands, but at this time she is extremely dirty and it would be an embarrassment. Instead, I offer a photo of our $1,000 mast boot. I know, I was as surprised at the cost as you are! I guess I should have specified as I was expecting a fifth of that price. At least it works! It is raining quite a bit today and bone dry below the deck. It would be a great opportunity to scrub the deck if it weren't cold. Instead, it's a day of below decks projects as we prepare to launch on Wednesday.

We are having an issue with fuel in the bilge, so we are taking Hippokampos back to the yard to sort the issue. It does not appear to be engine related and we fear one of our relatively new fuel tanks has sprung a leak. We don't want to leave a wide trail of diesel as we sail around!

Our session was short enough this time that we're just going to haul her and land cruise for a few weeks. Only partially kidding; you're not a cruising sailor if you don't work on your boat in exotic locals! We have a few boat projects (like rebidding the stern pulpit) to tend to before we scoot to Italy.

Howdy friends. I have my phone repaired and we're returning to Hippokampos for more sailing this year.

Unfortunately, Air Serbia has decided to change our flight and we are now looking at a 7 hour delay in Chicago, followed by a 13 hour delay in Belgrade.

Ironically, this reminds me of our trip to get Hippokampos and sail her back to Texas. We had a long delay in DFW that day and learned, among other things, that the Cereal Bar was a breakfast place.

Anyway, I should resume posting once we get to the Adriatic.

Andy's phone went swimming today. If you need him please contact me.

We visited the old Venetian fortress built in 1420 in Trogir, Croatia. It was small, but in good condition.
