It was an honour to once again welcome the Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Pernille Dahler Kardel, and her PR Officer, Ms. Belkisa Selmani, to the Ulqin Salina for a birdwatching and cycling tour guided by our team.
Their return visit is a true sign of appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural heritage we strive to protect and promote.
We are deeply grateful for their continued interest, support, and inspiring presence in our efforts to reconnect people with nature. 🌿

✨ Another magical afternoon on our cycling tour!
Our guests had the chance to enjoy not only the beauty of the Saline and its unique ecosystem, but also the unforgettable sight of pelicans and flamingos – this time in their natural habitat, not behind a fence. 🦩🦅

From elegant herons and cormorants to majestic birds of prey like the osprey, every moment was a reminder of why protecting this place matters. 🌊💚

🌿 Echoes from the Bay of Valdanos 🌊
Nestled between rugged hills and ancient olive groves, Valdanos Bay has always held secrets—its calm waters once a shelter not for locals, but for pirates who came from afar. 🏴‍☠️ From the 17th century onward, corsairs from North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean found refuge in Ulqin’s hidden corners. They arrived with wind-worn sails and stories of distant empires, anchoring in Valdanos when the seas turned cruel or their enemies too close.
📜 Legend says some of them never left—trading their ships for stone homes, their sea maps for a place in the fabric of this coastal town.

In the stillness of this mystical bay, you can almost hear it: the creak of old hulls, the clang of anchor chains, the whispers of hidden treasures lying beneath the surface.

Today, Valdanos remains a haven—not for pirates, but for wanderers seeking peace, stories, and the timeless rhythm of waves meeting shore.

Birdwatching along the hinterland of Long Beach, home to one of nature’s most colorful visitors: the European Bee-eater!
With their vibrant feathers and acrobatic flight, these migratory birds are a true spectacle and Long Beach is one of their favorite stops.
🪷Long Beach isn’t just a beach. Its coastal dunes and nearby wetlands form a rare mosaic of habitats that support not only bee-eaters, but also countless other bird species, insects, and native plants. These ecosystems protect against erosion, store carbon, and support biodiversity – making them vital for both nature and people.
☀️By exploring and appreciating these landscapes, we also help raise awareness of their importance and the need to preserve them.

“Dikë me biçikleta nga Shkodra, dikë tjetër me vetura nga rrethina, ndërsa dikë me avion nga Gjermania, i mblodhi në Krajë qëllimi i përbashkët kulturor dhe natyror për të kremtuar aktivitetin “Ditët e Brezit të Gjelbër Evropian”. Të mbledhur nën moton “Lidhja e natyrës, kulturës dhe komunitetit”, aktiviteti u mbajt në fshatin Muriq dhe në lokalitetin e ublave të Bolajve në Ostros. Të veçantë këtë aktivitet e bën edhe prania e nxënësve nga shkolla e mesme e Ulqinit, të cilët kontribuuan që organizimi të plotësojë edhe kushtin edukativ-informues. Mikpritës të këtij manifestimi ishin Shoqata Muriqi dhe Shoqata Besi, të dyja shoqata vendore.Siç e tregon vizioni i Iniciativës së Brezit të Gjelbër Evropian (europeangreenbelt.org), është që “trashëgimia jonë e përbashkët natyrore përgjatë vijës së ish-Perdes së Hekurt duhet të konservohet dhe restaurohet, për të funksionuar si një rrjet ekologjik që lidh peizazhet natyrore dhe kulturore me vlerë të lartë, duke respektuar nevojat ekonomike, sociale dhe kulturore të komuniteteve vendore”. Dhe, në të vërtetë, përmes organizimeve të tilla, shumëllojshmëria e aktiviteteve ishte një fuqizim emancipues i banorëve vendorë dhe i pjesëmarrësve të tjerë. Every year, the European Green Belt Initiative celebrates the biological diversity and cultural heritage in the impressive landscapes along the former Iron Curtain during the European Green Belt Days.

This year’s brought us together to honor the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage in Kraja region in Montenegro, on the shores of Shkodra Lake.

From ‘inspiring presentations’ to ‘nature-based activities’ , ‘sunset gatherings’, ‘sunrise birdwatching’ and ‘cultural walks’ and ‘exhibition’ , each moment was filled with purpose and connection. 💚
