The MAGANJA, called MASEVY is a dance and song performed by the Sakalava Bemazava in good or bad times. It’s a special dance performed by men. It is an expression of the customs and the solidarity of the people. They sing about the good or difficult times of their everyday lives. The dancers wear shirts and are draped with « lambaoany »(a special piece of cloth) around their hips. Musical instruments : masevy. It is made of dried leaves that have been women and filled with vaomaintilany(a kind of berries). The Masevy is tied at the ankles and when the dancer makes a movement, it makes musical noise.
