Happy World Chameleon Day!

Did you know Madagascar is home to some of the most fascinating chameleons on Earth? Here are 3 incredible facts that make these reptiles truly extraordinary:

1- The “Live Fast” Chameleon
Labord’s chameleon has one of the shortest lifespans of any four-legged animal! During the dry season, the entire species survives only as eggs underground for 8–9 months. Once the rains arrive, they hatch, grow, mate, and lay eggs — all within just a few months before the adults die. Nature’s ultimate sprint of life!

2- The World’s Smallest Chameleon
Meet Brookesia nana, discovered in northern Madagascar — the tiniest chameleon on Earth! Small enough to stand on your fingertip, this miniature marvel still has all the classic chameleon features: camouflage, curled tail, and independently moving eyes. Tiny, but mighty!

3- They Can Glow in the Dark
Some Madagascar chameleons, like the Panther chameleon, can glow under UV light! Their bones create bright blue fluorescent patterns invisible in daylight, possibly helping them communicate or attract mates in the forest. How amazing is that?

Madagascar’s chameleons remind us how unique and precious our biodiversity truly is. Let’s celebrate and protect these incredible creatures and the forests they call home

Today we celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday

We look back to 1960–61, when he visited southern Madagascar and, not far from Mandrare River Camp, famously pieced together an Elephant Bird egg—allowing him to study one of the largest birds to ever exist.

Sir David has been instrumental in opening our eyes to the wonders of the natural world—and to the role we all play in protecting it. He continues to inspire us at Madagascar Classic Collection; following his work has shaped our passion for research and conservation.

Thank you, , for everything you have done.

Wishing you a very happy 100th birthday on this incredible milestone.
