We are proud to announce that in late 2024, our team at Cactus Tours Madagascar - Birds and Birding Madagascar rediscovered the Dusky Tetraka Crossleyia tenebrosa, one of the world’s rarest bird species. This follows its initial rediscovery by the Peregrine Fund in 2023, marking a significant step in understanding this elusive species.

Our finding highlights the incredible biodiversity of Madagascar and the urgent need for continued conservation efforts to protect fragile habitats. We are committed to supporting research and awareness to safeguard this remarkable species and Madagascar’s unique ecosystems.

Here are some experiences shared by one of the Guests we had the chance to provide our services. Thank you.

Good morning everyone,

As many of you know, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a couple of weeks travelling around the amazing country of Madagascar this past summer. Madagascar is an amazing country but is also a challenging country to navigate and not really suitable for independent solo travel. In order to really maximize your stay there you need a good team of people behind you.

For my first trip there I hired a great company Cactus-tours Madagascar and was fortunate enough to have the talented Nandih Andrianarisoa behind me all the way. As a result I had not only a rewarding experience photographically, but also had a safe and memorable cultural experience from start to finish. From the initial planning phase to the ex*****on of the trip, things went very well and I would have not been able to do it myself. If you are interested in going to Madagascar, I definitely recommend reaching out to these people to help plan and guide your journey.

Here is the Eastern Grey Bamboo Lemur, one of many memorable sightings I had during my time there. These guys are so cute. They are currently considered a 'vulnerable' species as a result of habitat loss.
