She began her journey as a Reservation Agent before progressing to Junior Travel Advisor and then Senior Travel Advisor. Along the way, she has built an impressive knowledge of Madagascar, our operations and the needs of our international partners.

Now, she's preparing for the next chapter. In 2027, Miora is expected to take on the role of Training Officer and is already completing a range of professional training courses to ensure she has all the tools needed to succeed.

Anyone who has worked with Miora will know that organisation is one of her superpowers. She loves planning, has an incredible eye for detail and always seems to know what needs to happen next. Naturally curious and always eager to learn, she's just as happy sharing her knowledge and experience with others.

With her dedication, professionalism and passion for continuous improvement, Miora will play an important role in helping future generations of Tamàna team members grow and succeed.

We're excited to see where the next stage of her Tamàna journey takes her! 🇲🇬

🌊 Looking for an Indian Ocean escape that's a little different?

While many travellers head for the region's better-known islands, Madagascar remains one of its best-kept secrets for unforgettable marine adventures.

Surrounded by more than 6,500 kilometres of coastline, the island is home to one of the most biodiverse marine environments in the Western Indian Ocean. Whether you're dreaming of swimming alongside whale sharks, spotting humpback whales, exploring coral reefs or simply discovering quieter stretches of coastline, Madagascar offers experiences that go far beyond the traditional beach holiday.

👋 Meet Mbolatiana (or simply Mbola!)

Mbola has been part of the Tamàna family since 2012, when she joined as a Junior Travel Advisor. Through hard work, dedication and a passion for Madagascar, she progressed to Senior Travel Advisor, then Key Account Manager, before becoming our Chief Operating Officer in 2023.

As if that wasn't enough, she also completed an MBA in Project Management along the way!

Today, Mbola plays a vital role in keeping Tamàna running smoothly. She oversees our Sales and Reservations teams, works closely with suppliers across Madagascar and ensures every itinerary is delivered with the care, attention to detail and local expertise we're known for.

Calm under pressure, solutions-focused and deeply knowledgeable about the destination, Mbola is always looking for the very best guides, hotels, vehicles and experiences for our clients.

Above all, she's passionate about sharing the beauty, culture and diversity of Madagascar with travellers from around the world.

We're incredibly lucky to have her as part of the Tamàna team. 💚

This month is Plastic Free July!

Plastic Free July is a reminder that small changes can have a big impact and at Tamàna Company, reducing single-use plastic has been a priority for several years…

Since 2023, we've replaced the equivalent of 9,000 single-use 1.5L plastic water bottles each year with around 700 reusable 20L water dispensers, significantly reducing our plastic waste.

But we're not stopping there. We're currently trialling an on-site water filtration solution in partnership with Water-to-Go. If successful, our goal is to introduce these systems across our group tours from 2028, before rolling them out across all our tours by 2029. This will further reduce our reliance on single-use plastics while continuing to provide safe, high-quality drinking water for our team and guests.

For us, responsible tourism isn't about one big gesture. It's about making continuous improvements (big and small) that add up over time. Every step brings us closer to a more sustainable future for Madagascar.

Did you know that Madagascar was one of the last major landmasses on Earth to be settled by humans? 🌍

The island's first inhabitants are believed to have arrived around 500 AD, bringing influences from Southeast Asia that would later blend with African, Middle Eastern and European traditions to create the unique Malagasy culture that we know and love today.

Its long isolation also allowed wildlife to evolve separately from the rest of the world, which is why around 90% of Madagascar's wildlife is found nowhere else on Earth.

From its fascinating history to its incredible biodiversity, Madagascar is full of surprises, and that's what makes exploring the island so special.

Happy World Chocolate Day! 🍫 Did you know Madagascar produces some of the world's finest cocoa?

Renowned for its exceptional quality and rich flavour, Malagasy cocoa is prized by chocolatiers around the world. And while researchers are exploring cocoa-free alternatives, there's simply no substitute for tasting the real thing where it's grown.
That's exactly what you'll experience with our Tamàna Kitchen: From Bean to Bar workshop.

Step behind the scenes to discover how cocoa beans are transformed into delicious chocolate, learn traditional chocolate-making techniques and create, decorate and wrap your very own chocolate bars using premium Malagasy chocolate.

Whether you're a chocolate lover or simply looking for a unique way to experience Madagascar, it's a fun, hands-on activity that offers a real taste of one of the island's most celebrated exports.

Food is one of the best ways to connect with Madagascar on a deeper (and tastier!) level. 😋

For travellers looking to experience the island beyond the usual highlights, our Vary sy Laoka Workshop is a great addition to an itinerary, offering a genuine glimpse into local traditions, warm Malagasy hospitality and everyday life.

The four-hour workshop begins with a visit to a lively local market, where guests browse colourful stalls and discover the ingredients, vegetables and spices that feature in everyday cooking.

Back in the kitchen, a local chef guides participants through the preparation of traditional dishes using the fresh ingredients they sourced from the market. Along the way, guests gain insight into local cooking techniques, family recipes and the important role food plays in bringing people together.

The workshop finishes in the best possible way: sharing and enjoying the meal they've prepared!

As part of Tamàna Company, a Malagasy DMC committed to responsible tourism and authentic travel, our specialist brand, Tamàna Kitchen, offers a different way to discover the island - one that begins around the table and stays with guests long after their journey ends.
