Finally, the video of our 5-day kayak trip on the Mangoky River is available. You can watch the 9-minute video (German text, subtitles in English) on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXNyx1wD-E0
The video is not only a report from the tour in April 2023, but also a good preparation for next year: From April 2025, Mangoky Reserve will organise tours like the one shown in the video for small groups of 3 - 4 people. Further information on dates, services and prices will be published in the coming weeks.
Interested parties can already now make requests via this webpage or the private contact address of Mparany or Klaus-Christian. We assume that the few places on this unique adventure in one of the most remote places of Madagascar will be booked up quickly.

The Malagasy Ministry of Environment asks Mangoky Reserve to take protective measures also in other nature reserves in Madagascar. Unfortunately, this is not possible, but still, we are very happy. It shows that Mangoky Reserve is recognized as a partner for the protection of the unique nature in Madagascar.

On the 14th July, a meeting of the Ministry of Environment and Development (Ministère de l’Environnement et du Development Durable, MEDD), Asity and other NGOs, was summoned in the building of the Ministry in Antananarivo. Read more…

Our colleague and friend, Elyse has undertaken the arduous journey to Voatovo to get an idea of the progress of the school construction in Vohitovo
Here are some pictures that document the process of the construction of a schoolhouse in one of the most remote areas of Madagascar.
We would like to pass on our thanks to the “Eine Welt Verein e.V.” in Bühl, Germany. Without their financial support, this work, which serves both village development and environmental protection, would not be possible!

Our colleague and friend, Elyse has again undertaken the arduous journey to Voatovo – 1 day with the Taxi Brousse from Toliara and then a very long day with the ox cart – to get Read more…

What people in the three villages around the Mangoky Reserve want most is schools for their children. Mangoky Reserve has therefore developed a plan together with the village council for school construction. Now work has started, and the first school will be finalised before Christmas.

In an article in Neue Züricher Zeitung earlier this year, David Signer writes: "Experts like Rakotomalala or Vranckx say that afforestation is about a hundred times more expensive than protecting the forest." (my translation). This is also our experience. Reforestation sells well, especially when the number of seedlings is in the millions, but it costs a lot of money and requires long-sightedness and expertise. Once the forest is gone, there is usually no way back. The Mangoky Reserve Project works to ensure that it doesn't get that far and that the extremely rich forest and its biodiversity in along the Mangoky River in Western Madagascar is preserved. We need your help for this work! We ask everyone who wants to do something specific to combat climate change and the global extinction of species to visit our website https://mangokyreserve.com/ and contact us! We are working on the ground!
