Good news for International Students and Working Holiday Visas!!!

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on the 19 01 2022 that the $630 fee for international students would be rebated for the next eight weeks.

He said that there are 150,000 international students and 23,500 backpackers with visas and his message was clear - “come on down”.
Regarding international students, Mr Morrison said he was encouraging them to be back for the start of the university year as a “thank you for choosing Australia”

The Prime Minister also said “But we also want them to come here and be able to be filling some of these critical workforce shortages, particularly those who are working and being trained in health care, aged care, those types of sectors, that will be incredibly helpful,”

Sponsored Parent ( temporary ) visa ( subclass 870 )

The new Sponsored Parent (temporary) visa (subclass 870 ) allows parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents as well as eligible New Zealand citizens to apply for a stay period of up to 5 years. A further 5 year renewal under this visa subclass is the maximum time that the parent will be able to apply for.
The child of the applicant will need to have a sponsorship approved before being able to apply for a Sponsored Parent (temporary ) visa (subclass 870). Among the eligibility criteria for a sponsorship is the minimum household income requirement of at least $83,500 Australian dollars.
Parents will have no work rights while on this visa subclass. They will need to provide evidence of access to funds and also meet the character, health and National security requirements.
This visa does not lead to permanent residency.
The parents must also maintain private health insurance for the duration of the visa.

Fees
Parents will be able to apply for either a 3 year stay period (application fee $ 5000 Australian dollars ), or a 5 year stay period ( application fee $10000 Australian dollars ) These fees are per applicant. In addition, the sponsor processing fee is $420 Australian dollars.
