Hate it or love it, we always have as a stop on all our tours:) Dive into history at the ancient Old Bazaar and the panoramic Kale Fortress (or after a Mt.Vodno-Matka hike) before refueling with traditional 10ka so kromid & Tavče Gravče combo, paired with and a pint of ice-cold Skopsko lager. The vibrant Macedonian capital perfectly blends centuries-old architecture with an strong and diverse culinary scene. The good vibe is still here and still strong, after so many attempts to change the city identity (for better or worse, its still being discussed:)

Prilep's Prochka Procession

The Prochka Carnival procession marches through Prilep's streets on Forgiveness Sunday (Poklade), featuring colorful masks, jugglers, clowns, and folk dances from the Culture Center along Goce Delchev Boulevard to the main square stage. Organized by the Municipality and Prilepski Meckari Association, it draws international crowds with parades, concerts, and traditional Macedonian feasts— a centuries-old custom marking Lent's start.

Meckari Mask Tradition

Spot the iconic Meckari (bear men) masks: butchers dressed in real bear skins, horns, and suras, performing ritual dances to expel evil spirits and renew the community for spring. Rooted in pagan roots blended with Orthodox rites, these powerful "Bear Men" visit homes, symbolizing strength and atonement—Prilep's unique Balkan treasure!
