Yandabo Village Pottery

Yandabo is a village on the Irrawaddy river in central Myanmar. Yandabo is a pottery producing village – water pots, steamers, rice pots, money boxes, and horseshoe-shaped stoves. It is also famous historically as the place where the Yandabo Treaty was signed, a treaty to end the first Anglo-Burmese war.
In Yandabo village, they are very strong believers of Theravada Buddhism.

"The Inwa Bridge"

The Inwa Bridge has total span of 5,614 feet (1,711 m) long and has a four-lane motorway of 49 feet (15 m) width with pedestrian lanes of 6 feet (1.8 m) wide on the flanks.
This is the old bridge in Myanmar. The old Ava (or Inva or Inwa Bridge) across the Ayeyarwady River had a span of 3,948 feet (1,203 m). Built by the British in 1934, until the 1990s,[2] it was the only bridge which spanned this river.
The Inwa Bridge connects Mandalay and Sagaing crossing the Ayeyarwaday river. It still has railway in the middle.
Therefore driving across this bridge seems more adventurous. Many people in boats wants to see at sunset. The view at sunset were great.

Katha is known in literature as the real place underlying the fictional Kyauktada, setting of George Orwell's first novel “Burmese Days” (1934).

Orwell himself served at Katha in 1926-27 in the Indian Imperial Police. The British Club (including active tennis court), police station, and town jail are locations mentioned in the novel that can still be visited today.

Traditional Burmese puppet performance (Yoke Thay) were originated from royal patronage (since 15th century).

Myanmar marionettes are very intricate and dexterous as they employ 18 or 19 wires for male and female characters respectively. Wonderful fact is that each puppet is controlled by only one puppeteer. 😱😱

Thadingyut festival is coming soon!!

It is held on the full moon day of the Burmese Lunar month of Thadingyut.
It is the second most famous festival after Thingyan Festival. Thadingyut festival is the celebration to welcome the Buddha’s descent from the heaven after he preached the Abhidhamma to his mother, Maya.
During Thadingyut the whole country is covered with candle light, the sky is full with small fire balloon. Absolutely, the surrounding is so beautiful and full with surprise.

Yandabo Village (Stepping back in Time)

In the early morning, sailing to Yandabo Village, the village is famous for its handmade terracotta pots produced in traditional ways. Every family and so almost every adult is involved in the various stages of making the big terracotta water pots that are sold all over Myanmar.

It’s also a place, historically recognized for the signing of the Yandabo Treaty which took place under a tree on the river bank in 1826 between the British and Royal Burmese House-hold of Ava .

Thanboddhay Pagoda

You will get back to the 13th century, this pagoda is famous for its unique architecture and collections of 512028 small and large Buddha statue.
Unlike most of the pagodas in Myanmar, the entrance is not guarded by mythical lion, but by two giant white elephants. Inside and outside of the walls are covered with Buddha statue.

Some visitors say that this Pagoda reminds them of Borobodur (Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Indonesia with over 500 Buddha statue) as it is similar in architectural design.

ေတာ္ဝင္နန္းေတာ္ကို ဝန္းရံၿပီး တည္ထားတဲ့ မႏၱေလးၿမိဳ႕သည္ အထက္ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံရဲ႕ စီးပြားေရးအခ်က္အခ်ာၿမိဳ႔ျဖစ္သလို သာသနာအျပန္႔ပြားဆံုး ၿမိဳ႕လည္း ျဖစ္သည္။ မႏၱေလး နန္းေတာ္ကို သကၠရာဇ္ ၁၈၅၇ ခုႏွစ္ အင္းဝေခတ္ မင္းတုန္းမင္းလက္ထက္မွာ တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ စက္ဘီး၊ ဆိုင္ကယ္ေတြနဲ႔ ျပည့္ေနတဲ့ လမ္းမက်ယ္ႀကီးေတြရွိတဲ့ မႏၱေလးၿမိဳ႕က သူ႕ရဲ႕ ထူးျခားတဲ့ အစဥ္အလာေတြေၾကာင့္ ကမၻာမွာ ေက်ာ္ၾကားပါတယ္။

လာမယ့္ ခရီးသြားရာသီကို ၿပီးျပည့္စံုတဲ့ အျပင္အဆင္၊ စိတ္လႈပ္ရွားစရာ အစီအစဥ္ေတြန႔ဲ စတင္သြားမွာ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ အျပည့္အဝ ေက်နပ္မႈရေစမယ့္ ဝန္ေဆာင္မႈေတြကို ရယူရင္း အေကာင္းဆံုး ရႈခင္းေတြ၊ ၿမိဳ႕ေတြဆီကုိ ပို႔ေဆာင္သြားမွာ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

Kyaukse Elephant Dance Festival

Kyaukse Elephant Dance Festival is a yearly cultural highlight of Kyaukse; located 26 miles to the south of Mandalay. A huge elephant figure is made from bamboo and paper. Two men take their places inside the figure and imitate and coordinate the movements of the dancers, assisted by a small number of musicians.

But the festival is held for a few days, then tourists are asking for more Elephant Dance. If you are willing to watch more elephant dance, we have planned to entertain you on the cruise. 😉😉
