၁၉၉၉ ခုနှစ်ကတည်းက ပုဂံရဲ့ကောင်းကင်ယံထက်မှာ Balloons Over Bagan နဲ့အတူစတင်ခဲ့တဲ့ ခရီးလမ်းဟာ ယခုပျံသန်းမယ့်ရာသီမှာဆိုလျှင် ၂၇ နှစ်ပြည့်ခဲ့ပြီ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ဒါဆို လူစီးမိုးပျံပူဖောင်းတွေက ဘယ်လိုပျံသန်းကြသလဲ?

With a new flying season approaching, we take a closer look at the fascinating principle behind hot air balloon flight — a principle that has shaped aviation history for centuries.

In 1783, the pioneering flights of the Montgolfier Brothers in France marked an important milestone in the history of human flight.

So, how does a hot air balloon fly?

It comes down to heat and buoyancy. As the air inside the balloon envelope is heated, it becomes less dense than the cooler air surrounding it. This creates an upward buoyant force, allowing the balloon to rise when sufficient lift is generated.

The same principle remains at the heart of hot air balloon flight today.

Modern passenger ballooning, however, brings together much more than the science of flight. Safety management, equipment inspections, pilot training, ground crew coordination and passenger procedures all play an essential role in every operation.

Technology and equipment have evolved considerably since those pioneering flights, yet the principle that carries a hot air balloon into the sky remains remarkably unchanged — connecting the origins of aviation with the experience of ballooning today.

In the hands of local artisans, the soft sands of Bagan are transformed into meaningful works of art. With a history spanning more than a decade, this distinctive art form includes sand paintings created with fine sand from the Ayeyarwady River and sandstone paintings made from crushed Bagan sandstone.

Each artwork begins with the careful cleaning and preparation of the sand. It is then gently pressed onto nylon or cotton canvas using a natural tree sap-based adhesive and left to dry for approximately three hours. Once the base is complete, intricate designs are drawn by hand and enriched with watercolors, acrylic paints, natural stone powders, sand, and earthy pigments.

From simple grains of sand, stories of Bagan’s history, artistry, and heritage gradually take shape. More than a decorative art form, sand painting reflects the creativity of Bagan’s artisans and their dedication to preserving a tradition rooted in the land.

Lightweight and easy to carry, each painting offers visitors a meaningful keepsake of Bagan while supporting local artists and helping their artistry continue.
