Haridaung Pagoda

📍Mrauk U

Haridaung Paya is an unremarkable temple in many ways, but there is still good reason to come here.

The temple is made of simple white stone and would have been built in the 18th century making it one of the later additions to the Mrauk U temple scene.

One of the highlights however is that it is located outside the crumbling palace walls on a picturesque hillock and this is a top spot to visit around sunset when you can look out over pretty Mrauk U from a height.

In Phaw Khone Weaving Workshop

📍Inle Lake

There are two types of silk; the thick weave with designs and the thin ones in plain colour.

The silk woven designs from Inlay are the thinner ones. To weave a set of robe for a monk, it requires the fibres from 120,000 stems of the dark pink lotus. Now, scarves are also woven from dried lotus.

Thandaung was developed as a hill resort from Victorian times by the British, Thandaung is a romantic place.

It is in the Kayin State and is inhabited mainly by the lovable and simple Bwe Kayin (Karen) people.

The Bandhi Thaylar Buddha Hair Relics (Nwar La Boh Taung) Pagoda is on the “Nwar La Boh” range about 4 miles (6km) from Yankin Monastery of Kyone Ka Village, Paung Township, Mon State, which is located on the Yangon-Mawlamyaing Highway.

Inwa Bridge

📍Ayeyarwaddy

This British-engineered 16-span bridge, which dated back to 1934, was the only structure that spanned the Ayeyarwaddy River.

Inwa Bridge (formerly Ava Bridge) was closed in 1942 when two spans got demolished in order to delay the advancing Japanese Forces.

Nandamannya Pagoda

📍Bagan

Nandamannya Pagoda was built in the mid-13th Century. It is a single-chambered temple, has very fine frescoes and a ruined, seated Buddha image.

The murals’ similarity with those at Payathonzu has led some art historians to suggest they were painted by the same hand.
