U Lay Nge works as a day laborer on tomato plantations and occasionally catches eels to make ends meet. His wife, Daw Thida Khaing, stays at home to care for their two children—a bright 15-year-old daughter in Grade 10 and a playful 7-year-old son in Grade 2.

When the earthquake hit, their modest stilt house became dangerously tilted. Fearing for their safety, the family moved in with relatives and now return only during the day to cook meals in what’s left of their home. 💔

But today, there’s a new chapter waiting to begin.

We are deeply thrilled to share our heartfelt gratitude to "𝐌𝐫. 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢" for funding the 10th house in our Rebuilding Hope in Inle Lake campaign — a home that will soon belong to "𝐌𝐫. 𝐇𝐭𝐮𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐬. 𝐖𝐲𝐧𝐞" from Upper Lel Thit Village.

This couple has faced unimaginable challenges — health struggles, physical hardship, the burden of rebuilding their home. And yet, they’ve kept going, with quiet strength and grace.

🏡 Finished: Fourth Home for Mr. Kyaw & Ma Wai Wai Thwe – A New Beginning 🌿

We are thrilled to announce that Ko Kyaw and Ma Wai Wai Thwe’s home is now complete—a beautiful bamboo stilt-house on Inle Lake, lovingly built by their community and our dedicated team.

Despite the incredible challenges—working entirely by hand, transporting materials by boat, and the inflated costs and shortages of bamboo post-earthquake—this resilient family now has a safe, stable, and long-lasting place to call home.

🏡 A New Home, A New Beginning for Daw Htay! 💛 3rd House of our project

We’re so happy to share that Daw Htay’s house is now complete — marking another step forward in rebuilding hope in Inle Lake!

Daw Htay, a resilient widow living in Paukpar Village, has faced unimaginable challenges over the years. After losing her husband in the 2024 floods and surviving the devastating earthquake of 2025, she continued working at a cheroot workshop to support her daughter and two grandchildren.

Today, thanks to the generous support of Mr. Gabriele Cavestro and Ms. Elisa Fornasini, she and her family have a new, safe home to call their own. 🏠✨

Your compassion and kindness have not only provided shelter but also restored dignity and hope for the future.

🏡 Another New Home in Inle Lake

This will be the 9th house of our “Rebuilding hope in Inle Lake” campaign. 💛

We’re thrilled to share that a new house will be rebuilt for Mr. Zaw Win Latt (39) and Ms. Aye Aye Aung (32) — a hardworking couple from Inle Lake.

Mr. Zaw Win Latt works as a carpenter, helping build and repair homes in his community. His wife, Ms. Aye Aye Aung, supports the family by working at a cheroot workshop, rolling traditional ci**rs by hand.

They are raising two school-age children:
👧 A 12-year-old daughter in Grade 4
👦 A 6-year-old son in Grade 1

As the rainy season draws near, Ko Kyaw and Ma Wai Wai Thwe’s family of five is still living in a fragile temporary shelter.

Ko Kyaw, a skilled craftsman, continues to dedicate his time and energy to repairing and rebuilding houses across Inle Lake—his way of giving back to his community, even while his own family remains without a proper roof over their heads. Now, it’s our turn to support him.

We are close to securing full funding for their new home, and with your help, we can get there. Every contribution brings us one step closer to giving Ko Kyaw, Ma Wai Wai Thwe, and their three children the safety, comfort, and stability they urgently need.

Together, they’ve weathered many challenges. But nothing could have prepared them for the devastation of the March 28th earthquake, which completely destroyed their home. Still, they never gave up.

Despite the hardship, they held on to hope—Because of your kindness and unwavering generosity, we can now provide them with a new home—a safe, stable space where their children can feel secure and their lives can begin to heal.

This is more than just a roof over their heads. It’s a second chance.
