Far beyond Myanmar’s familiar tourist destinations, the Chindwin River flows through landscapes that remain unseen by many.

Along its banks, dramatic rocky hills rise above the water while small boats quietly pass through a landscape shaped by the river and generations of local life. Places like this remind us that some of Myanmar’s most beautiful scenes are found far beyond the usual travel routes.

This photograph was taken during one of my journeys along the Chindwin River—a glimpse of the quieter, lesser-known beauty of Myanmar.

OLD IS GOLD — Photography as a Record of Time

Many of the photographs I took years ago were never created for competition. They were taken to tell stories — about people, culture, traditions, places, and everyday life.

At the time, they were simply photographs of the present.
Today, many of them have already become records of the past.

This is one of the greatest values of travel photography. A simple scene that looks ordinary today may become historically important to the next generation.

I was not born to become a photographer, but photography gradually changed the way I see the world. It taught me to observe more carefully, understand people more deeply, and look at the same place from different perspectives.

So when you travel with your camera, do not only search for a beautiful picture.

Look for a story. Look for a moment worth preserving. One day, your photograph may become part of history.

Good travel photography often begins before you press the shutter. First, become a photo hunter—observe the surroundings, anticipate the moment, study the light, and look for the strongest possible composition.

Your shooting style will influence the lens you choose, but the right angle, camera level, timing, and framing are equally important. Sometimes moving only a few steps, lowering your camera, or waiting for the right subject can completely change an ordinary scene into a memorable photograph.
