A quick journey through our 2025 horse trekking season in Mongolia.
It starts in May, with some ice left on the rivers.
And ends in late October as the river banks are again covered in ice - now rivers are hard to cross and night time temperatures plummet below - 20 centigrades.
It was a beautiful season and we thank all our guests for choosing Stone Horse Expeditions! And thanks to all our staff for another season's work.
The 2025 season saw us camping at the Terelj river in August, for 3 nights, before the river was safe to cross.
In early August, we rode a great route on the Khentii Mountains wilderness trek, camping at scenic lakes and crossing back over the high plateau into the grasslands of Gorkhi Terelj National Park.
Autumn rides were beautiful for their vibrant colors and day rides out of scenic camp spots. And again, we rode into the high country, for fantastic views across the Khentii mountain ranges and the autumn forest steppe of Gorkhi Terelj.
