Welcome to the world-famous dinosaur footprint site of Cretaceous period!
Shar Tsav dinosaur trackway site is located in Uguumur bag, Manlai sum, Umnugovi aimag.
The Paleontological Center, Mongolian Academy of Sciences-Ha yashibara Museum of Natural Sciences Joint Paleontological Expedition (MJJPE) first discovered abundant dinosaur footprints from the Upper Cretaceous of Shar Tsav in July 31,1995.
The first intensive research survey of the site was made by MIJPE in 1996 and conducted a detailed study in 2001, 2010, 2015 and 2016 and found nearly 18,000 of natural casts and concave footprints at Shar Tsav.
Shar Tsav dinosaur footprint site is included in the list of protected intangible natural and cultural heritages of Mongolia by the resolution No.175 of the Government of Mongolia in 2008.
The Government of Mongolia approved the protected area of Shar Tsav dinosaur footprint should be 408 hectares totally by the resolution of Government of Mongolia, No.414 in 2013.
Shar Tsav footprint site is admitted in the Tentative List of Mongolia as registered by World Heritage Center of UNESCO in 2015.
