Bayanzag – The Flaming Cliffs

Bayanzag, also known as the Flaming Cliffs, is one of Mongolia’s most famous natural and historical sites. It is located in the Gobi Desert, in Ömnögovi Province.

The name Flaming Cliffs comes from the beautiful red and orange colour of the rocks, especially at sunrise and sunset, when the cliffs appear to be on fire.

Bayanzag is world-famous for its dinosaur fossils. In the 1920s, an American expedition led by Roy Chapman Andrews made important discoveries here, including some of the first scientifically recognized dinosaur eggs. This discovery helped change our understanding of dinosaurs and their reproduction.

The Khongor Sand Dunes, also known as the Singing Dunes, are one of the most spectacular natural attractions in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia.

The dunes stretch for approximately 180 kilometres and can reach up to 300 metres in height. From the top, visitors can enjoy an incredible view of the vast Gobi Desert, mountains, and the green Khongor River oasis.
