Alberto and friends - August 2022 :

I stayed in this apartment for 4 nights with 4 of my friends between the end of July and the beginning of August. The apartment was very well maintained and perfect upon our arrival. It has all the necessary services for an excellent stay: air conditioners (for a fee, but it is a few bricks), washing machine, iron, wi-fi, television, oven, microwave, set of pots and pans ... The apartment we stayed in also has two terraces where you can eat and hang out the clothes. Spacious kitchen. The sea, the supermarket, the pharmacy, the restaurants are not even 5 minutes away on foot, while the bus stop is exactly in front of the building. Host always available, friendly and precise with check in and check out times. Excellent value for money, I recommend it. "

Salt Pans in Gozo.. Can you guess where?

The formation process of the salt begins when sea water starts to fill crevices in the coastline. This sea water is left to settle for eight days before it is moved to smaller salt pans that are warmer in temperature and further away from the sea. At the beginning of the drying process the water takes on a reddish hue and salt crystals begin to form. In fact, if you head down to the coast really early in the morning, there’s a chance you can see locals collecting rock salt from the 350-year-old salt pans in Marsalforn, Gozo. There are several salt pans along the Gozitan coast, namely in Qala, Dwejra, and Xlendi.

As per family tradition, once the rock salt has been processed it is packed up and taken to a small warehouse or garage, and then packaged by hand before it is distributed to supermarkets, souvenir shops, and gourmet food shops.

Since the valley follows a winding path that leads to the open sea, you can enjoy a dip in the Mediterranean at the end of the valley where a small and secluded pebbly bay lies.

Although it seems inaccessible, a series of steps have been cut into one side of the cliff face, taking you to the tiny pebbly beach. On your way down the stairs, you’ll get a full view of the natural beauty that surrounds you so make sure you keep a camera handy.
Wied l-Għasri

Wied l-Għasri is very popular with divers who like to explore the surrounding underwater caves. The very narrow and secluded bay is also a haven for those who seek a quiet bathing area.

The area is great for a swim on a fine day but is especially spectacular on windy days when you can enjoy the rage of the sea splashing against the cliffs from a safe distance.

Where the valley meets the sea is an interesting cave with a shaft dug right up to the top of the steep cliffs above. This used to contain a rig of ropes and buckets to bring up sea water to fill the neighboring saltpans.
