Equinox Digital

Equinox Digital Equinox Digital provides high-end 3D documentation and mapping services for archaeological sites, heritage buildings and landscapes using Drone technology.

Fully licensed and insured Drone Operator. Utilising technological developments in the field of 3d Scanning and computer vision, Equinox Digital provides a innovative documentation service for Cultural Heritage sites and objects. Simply put, we use UAVs (drones), and advanced digital cameras to generate 3D models, and geometric survey data of Cultural Heritage. Our innovative methodology allows us

e to rapidly capture highly accurate and visually aesthetic 3D data. This data can easily be incorporated into the conservation process, and we are capable of providing services across a range of industries. This is our service: the generation of 3D survey data as it relates to cultural heritage. However, what we do with that 3D data is even more compelling! We feel that society has an obligation, that is to utilise whatever tools we have at our disposal to document cultural heritage that is in danger of being lost or destroyed through development, tourism, coastal erosion or through armed conflict.

Did you know the term 'Troglodyte' means cave dweller. As in Cave man. There are a number of large cave entrances in this image, they all interconnect under the lip of the plateau. There are structural elements inside, such as partition walls and small 'beds' and candle holders cut into the interior of the cave. Ghar il-Kbir, Malta.

Ghar il-Kbir Cave, near Siggiewi, Malta. The cave (Ghar) has structural elements throughout. The term Troglodytes means cave dweller. There are a number of connecting caves under the 'lip' of the cave. This site is very close to the Cart-ruts archaeological site known as Clapham Junction. It's also a great place for overnight parties.

An aerial shot of the stunning Ras ir-Raheb multi-phase archaeological site in Malta. Along with Tas-Silg, it is one of only two sites in Malta that incorporated neolithic megaliths (large stones) into a Punic temple. There have been a number of excavations on the site, the most recent being in 1962 by the british naval officers. An abundance of archaeological material was uncovered, which shows evidence for use during the Punic period, with a number of coins suggesting re-use by the Romans. Its location on the top of a cliff at the end of a promontory makes it a perfect defensive sea look-out station. It is also believed to have been utilized as a temple and ritualistic site. The curious V shape in the cliff face is stunning, and when you stand at the edge, you can see it drops sharply to the sea, some 250m below.
