Ile Aux Fouquets also known as Lighthouse Island, the islet is located approximately 5 km off the coast.

Île aux Fouquets was once used for military purposes. In 1865, a lighthouse was built on the island and became one of the most important lighthouses in Mauritius, guiding ships safely through this part of the sea, where the waters are often dangerous.

Île aux Fouquets is a wonderful place to visit.
Its rugged landscape, surrounded by stunning bays, makes it a truly unique destination.

Today, it is recognized as a National Heritage Site.

The island and its neighboring islets can be visited by speedboat or catamaran. Île aux Fouquets is also historically significant as it was the site of the Battle of Grand Port, and its strategic location played a crucial role in the defense of Mauritius.
