Celebrating International Tea Day !
The history of tea in Mauritius begins with the introduction of Ceylon tea in 1886. Over the years, this tea will be adapted to the exotic taste of the tropics with the vanilla tea in 1919. Tea, very popular among Mauritians, is a beverage inherited without doubt from the English occupation. It is customary among Mauritian families, to drink tea at breakfast and I am certainly right if I say that vanilla tea is undoubtedly the favourite of Mauritians, although tea is now available in many other exotic fragrances. The unmissable afternoon cup of tea with milk remains a blissful moment when enjoyed with our traditional bread or corn pudding.

Mauritius: Hiking at Bras d’Eau National Park
A blazing sun was expected on this torrid day! We were nevertheless very motivated and ready early morning for a hike at the Bras d’ Eau National Park.

Well-shod and equipped with our water bottles, off we went for a getaway in the heart of nature. The road along the north-east coast before arriving at the park is impressive: The colour of the lagoon, the volcanic rocks, the inviting beaches, all eye-catching. This 500-hectare nature reserve, whose name comes from a shaped-arm wide stream that crosses it, exudes a peaceful atmosphere while keeping its wild aspect.
