🌱 As a proud co-organiser of the Responsible Business Summit - Mauritius 2025, Rogers Group partnered with Currimjee Jeewanjee, Eclosia, IBL Together, and MCB Group, alongside sponsor CIEL Group, in collaboration with Business Mauritius, PRODURABLE, and United Nations Global Compact - Network Indian Ocean Region. Together, we are shaping the future of responsible business in our region.

Over two days, the summit brought together more than 300 leaders and changemakers to address one key question: How can we move from commitment to real, sustainable transformation?

One key takeaway? Fragmented efforts are no longer enough. The challenges ahead call for a coherent, collective strategy grounded in data, informed by experience, and driven by meaningful cross-sector collaboration. At Rogers, we see strategy as the sum of bold decisions and long-term thinking—aligned with the broader resilience and prosperity of our island and region. 🌍

In his closing remarks, Philippe Espitalier-Noël, CEO of Rogers, captured the spirit of the summit:

“If we operate within a model of exemplarity, and truly show that we are well-intentioned, we can generate a powerful response to what Mauritius can stand for. Our island, with its strong commitments and innovative capacity, has a real opportunity to position itself as a leader in sustainable development in the Indian Ocean and in Africa.”

🌟 Empowering the next generation in Bel Ombre!

Since April 2024, the 'Bouze Zenes' programme has impacted 100+ young individuals from Bel Ombre, Baie du Cap, St Martin, Rivière des Galets, and Choisy —equipping them with valuable skills in sports, personal growth, and employability.

Funded by Heritage Villas Valriche and implemented by the Rogers Foundation, with support from Agrïa and Rogers Hospitality, this initiative concluded its first edition with a certificate ceremony in November 2024, celebrating the achievements of its young participants.

Last week, the Rogers Group had the opportunity to participate in the Regional Research and Innovation Forum, hosted by the University of Antananarivo in Madagascar. Representing us were Mickaël APAYA, Head of Climate Resilience and Regeneration, and Thibault Israel, Energy Manager; along with Julien Lafrésière, Head of Business Development at Ecoasis Energy Companies, a subsidiary of the ENL Group.

Organised under the TWENex project—a collaboration between the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council - MRIC and the Commission de l'océan Indien - Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), funded by the European Commission—this event was a cornerstone in advancing sustainable waste-to-energy solutions across the Indian Ocean region. ⚡

Mickaël Apaya moderated the panel titled 'What motivates the private sector to adopt research products and what bridges need to be established?', emphasising the crucial role of public-private partnerships in translating research into impactful business practices. Thibault and Julien discussed the path for Bel Ombre’s transition toward an innovative energy model, highlighting our unwavering commitment to sustainable development.

“I started my journey with Velogic when I was just 20 years old, working on various sites around the island. It was my first real job, and I gave it my all.

Two years later, my hard work was recognised, and I was promoted to Forklift Driver—a step that made me feel proud and motivated to keep growing. At 30, the company secured a big contract with the Marine Ports Authority (MPA) for container deliveries, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for about 1½ years.

It was a challenging period, working long shifts, but it paid off. The extra income allowed me to complete the construction of my house, a goal I had been working toward for years. Over time, I had the opportunity to work on many different projects, including assignments at suites all over the island. These experiences broadened my horizons and made me more versatile in my work.”
