The Republic of Mauritius is a secular democratic sovereign state which provides for religious freedom through its Constitution.

Provision is also made under the laws of the Republic of Mauritius for an INDEPENDENT body to deal with the fulfillment of the duty imposed by God Almighty on Muslims of our country to realize their aspirations in such a lawful manner through the Rabita Al Alam Al Islami (Mauritius Branch) Act of 1981.

The Saudi Arabian Authorities undertake to handle the Islamic Pilgrimages in different ways to answer the demand for entry to its territory to perform the rituals of the duty imposed by God Almighty on Muslims all over the world.

Saudi Arabia categorizes countries of the world as Islamic and Non-Islamic states.

Being a secular democratic sovereign state, the Republic of Mauritius is automatically classified as a Non-Islamic country under the existing laws of the Saudi Arabian Authorities.

Islamic states are compelled to having Hajj Missions whereas Non-Islamic countries are not bound to set Hajj Mission.

The government of Saudi Arabia provides for 3 ways of granting entry to its territory for the performing of the rituals of Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage as follows:

a) The Hajj Mission.
b) Companies under the Hajj Mission.
c) Companies Not under the Hajj Mission

Visa for Umrah is granted to Mauritian nationals through local licensed travel agencies that have met the professional standard to sell, promote and handle international air passenger transportation and having been accredited by the Ministry of Hajj of Saudi Arabia under the Convention De La Haye.

1. People above the age of 65 will not be allowed for Hajj.

2. People with chronic diseases will not be allowed to perform Hajj.

3. People will go through mandatory testing before going to Hajj.

4. Strict Social distancing will be applied throughout Hajj.

5. Health Status of Pilgrims will be checked daily.

6. People will be isolated (home quarantine) after completing the Hajj Pilgrimage.

7. The total number of pilgrims will not reach tens of thousands (total number not confirmed).
