A small island off the east coast of Mauritius, it's only accessible by boat, which is part of what makes it feel so special. Powdery white sand, crystal-clear shallow water, and the kind of quiet that you don't expect to find just 20 minutes from the main island.

There's an optical illusion off the south-west coast of Mauritius that has puzzled travellers for decades.

From the ground, you'd never know it exists. From the air, it stops you cold.
The Underwater Waterfall of Mauritius isn't actually underwater — it's a trick of light, sand, and ocean current that creates the appearance of a massive waterfall cascading into the deep from the edge of the island's shelf.
