A NEW JUPITER IS TAKING SHAPE… 🚤🔧

A little behind the scenes from our newest addition to the JSL fishing fleet.

Our Jupiter 5, a 23 ft boat, has spent at least 8 years working hard in charter service. After countless fishing days, it was time to think about its replacement.

And here it is:

Jupiter 12 – 27 ft Center Console, powered by twin Mercury 115 hp. 🔥

But why 27 ft?

Our fleet already includes Jupiter 8, a 38 ft fishing boat powered by 2 × 250 hp Yamaha, and Jupiter 10, our 32 ft boat powered by 2 × 175 hp Yamaha.

These larger boats are fantastic for groups and demanding fishing trips, but not every guest needs that much boat.

With the new 27 ft Jupiter 12 and 2 × 115 hp Mercury, we’re filling that gap – giving solo anglers, couples and small groups of up to around 3 anglers a proper fishing platform that’s more economical than taking one of the big boats.

Right now the Mercury technicians are installing the engines. Next comes the steering and hydraulics, complete electrical installation, GPS, fishfinder and all the other equipment needed before she is ready for fishing.

If everything goes according to plan, Jupiter 12 could touch the water for the first time tomorrow or the day after. 🌊

“I’m a beginner in saltwater flats fly fishing, but I would love to catch a GT and a Triggerfish on fly.”

Those were the words our guest from the USA shared with guide Adam during the briefing.

No promises. Just a dream and the determination to make it happen.

Over the following days, Adam put his experience and knowledge of the flats to work. Step by step, opportunity by opportunity, the dream became reality.

Sometimes the second chance counts.

After waiting for better conditions, the flats opened up again.

Under challenging conditions, Eddie Egloffy from Escape Fly Fishingpe (France) went back out into the flats.

The result:

• 1 GT on fly
• 2 triggerfish on fly

Not easy fishing.
Changing conditions, wind and constant adjustments.

But sometimes patience pays off.

Flats fishing is all about timing.

Our French group with Eddie Egloff from Escape Fly Fishing had a full fishing program on the agenda:

• GT fishing
• trolling
• tuna fishing
• flats fly fishing

With unstable weather during the last days, we waited for the right conditions before heading to the flats.

Once the weather settled, it was time to go.

First results:

• triggerfish
• bluefin trevally

Flats fishing is never just about showing up —
wind, tides and visibility matter.

If conditions remain stable, we’ll head back out for another flats session.

A fly fisherman staying on another island in Vaavu Atoll contacted us.

His goal:
Catch a GT on fly in the flats.

He wasn’t satisfied with the options available,
so he reached out to us directly.

We had capacity —
Adam picked him up at 6:00 AM.

Half-day trip.
One clear mission.

GT on fly.

Mission completed.

After the trip, he visited Keyodhoo and the lodge —
and realized what he had been missing.

Sometimes, the difference is not the location.
