The Maldives is known for its extraordinary underwater beauty, but it also reminds us of the importance of respect, preparation and safety at sea.

Following the recent cave diving tragedy, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in the recovery mission including DAN divers, international specialists, the Maldives National Defence Force, police officers, volunteers and all responders who worked under extremely difficult conditions.

We also honour the MNDF diver who tragically lost his life during the operation. His courage and sacrifice will always be remembered.
