Part 1 | The Journey Begins 🪸
Together with Villa Nautica, Maldives and Finland International School Hub-10, diveOceanus & team proudly launched the first phase of a long term coral restoration and citizen science programme.

Students stepped beyond the classroom to identify coral species, assess coral health, measure coral fragments, record scientific baseline data, and carefully build five dedicated coral restoration frames before they were installed onto the reef.

This is more than a coral planting event.
The scientific data collected during this visit will be recorded through our Coral Tracker programme. In approximately six months, the students will return to compare their findings, measure coral growth, monitor the marine life that has established around the restoration frames, and witness how a once bare structure gradually evolves into a thriving reef ecosystem.

As each class graduates, the project and its scientific records will be passed on to the next generation of students, creating a lasting legacy of learning, research and marine conservation.

We’re not just restoring coral reefs we’re growing coral reefs and inspiring future minds. 🌊🪸

Congratulations to Mohamed Arzan of Villa Nautica, winner of Diving Personality of the Year at the Hotelier Maldives Awards 2026, presented by Bestbuy Maldives (BBM).

Arzan is recognised for his leadership as Dive Centre Manager, marine knowledge, safety-focused guest experiences, team mentorship and contribution to the dive centre’s performance.
