STRIPED MARLIN

At the heart of our Sardine Run expeditions is one of Baja California’s most impressive pelagic predators: the striped marlin (Kajikia audax).

Each season, large concentrations of sardines bring these animals together around Magdalena Bay, creating an opportunity to observe them doing what they are built to do: hunt.

Underwater, it’s all about speed and precision. Marlin move around the bait balls, taking turns attacking and accelerating through schools of sardines within seconds.

Recent research has even documented striped marlin rapidly intensifying their body stripes immediately before an attack, possibly as a visual signal to other marlin hunting alongside them.

Being in the water and watching that behavior unfold in real time is one of the experiences that makes the Sardine Run so special to us.

Our 2026 season is getting closer, with only a few final spaces still available on selected expeditions.

Blue or Mako?

Our 2026 blue & mako season gave us plenty to remember… Strong numbers, beautiful conditions, and some really good interactions with both species throughout the season.

We’re currently taking our annual break from the water, but it won’t be long before these two are back on the calendar.

Our next blue & mako season begins in December 2026, and we’re already looking forward to seeing what 2027 has in store.

Until then, we’ll leave you with the important question…

And that’s a wrap for our summer shark season.

The warm summer water delivered once again, with plenty of silky sharks and some really good days offshore over the past few weeks.

That’s it for us for now. Time for our annual break before getting back on the water in October.
