13 years after the famous Aeromozas Mexicana what is the news on one of the oldest airlines that been out there?
The country’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has decided he wants a new national airline to be run by the government itself. The government of Mexico has now acquired the assets of Mexicana, which has been defunct for 13 years for $42.6 million.
The airline will be run by retired members of the military. And by re-starting Mexicana, rather launching a new airline, they’re bringing back union leaders who haven’t had membership to lead in over a dozen years. Mexicana’s old unions will get a payout. And the airline is in talks with Boeing to acquire aircraft.

The U.S. is warning tourists to stay away from several areas of Mexico near the U.S. border because officials fear a prominent cartel leader's arrest could lead to violence in the area.

The Department of State on Friday upgraded the travel advisory for Baja California to level 3, which urges U.S. citizens to reconsider their travel plans due to the possibility of kidnapping or other violent crimes.

The advisory likely referred to Francisco Torres, sometimes referred to as “El Duranguillo," who was taken into custody by Mexico's army on July 2.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a new agreement with airlines to suspend travel to the Caribbean and Mexico due to Covid-19.
The country's main airlines, including Air Canada and WestJet, will end service immediately and organise return travel for those currently abroad.
The government will also mandate new testing and three-day quarantine periods upon arrival in Canada.
It comes amid reports of many Canadians travelling internationally this winter.
"New variants of Covid-19 pose a real challenge to Canada," said Mr Trudeau on Friday. "That's why we need to take extra measures."
He announced Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Air Transat have all agreed to suspend their flights to those popular so-called "sun destinations" until 30 April.
All visitors must take a mandatory Covid PCR test when they arrive at the airport - in addition to the pre-boarding test that is already required - and stay at government-approved hotels on their own dime for up to three days as they await the results.
The prime minister said it could cost travellers more than C$2,000 ($1,560; £1,140) for the hotel stay. La Paz BCS Baja California Sur

Although most governments are still advising against "nonessential" international travel, a host of popular destinations are beginning to ease their Covid-19 lockdown measures and border restrictions and are moving toward welcoming tourists back.
A number of Caribbean islands are preparing to open their doors to foreign visitors in June, while destinations such as Mexico and Thailand are planning to open up again region by region in the coming weeks.

Border restrictions are slowly being eased across the world, but what does this mean for potential global travel? Here we rundown the destinations that are reopening to tourists, as well as some of those that remain firmly closed.

Global tourism is expected to plunge by 70% this year, compared to last year, the head of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) said Wednesday.
Opening the world up to tourism again will save jobs, protect livelihoods and enable our sector to resume its vital role in driving sustainable development.
Previous global crisis situations have caused tourism to decline by 10% to 20%, but the Covid-19 pandemic has been worse, said UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, in a video press conference with reporters in Madrid.
This summer, more people will take trips by land, rather than on flights, and rural tourism in the mountains, and not on the beaches, may benefit, he said.
