El año pasado viví una de esas experiencias que te cambian la vida: nadar en mar abierto con el majestuoso Tiburón Ballena. Aunque su nombre imponga, el Rhincodon typus es un gigante gentil; no es ballena ni tiburón peligroso, sino un pez fascinante que puede medir más de 15 metros y se alimenta solo de plancton. ¡Verlo de cerca es pura magia! 🐋💙
Todo comienza con la emoción de salir a buscar "la aguja en el pajar". Los capitanes expertos coordinan una búsqueda épica en el basto Caribe hasta localizarlos. El año pasado tuve la suerte de ver a más de 150 juntos; las lanchas ni se movían porque estábamos rodeados de esta maravilla natural. Tras un desayuno ligero en la marina para evitar mareos y una charla de seguridad, te lanzas al agua. ¡Ojo! Nadar a su ritmo es un reto; con un solo movimiento de su cola avanzan a una velocidad increíble. 💨
Un pacto con la naturaleza: Estos gigantes viajan miles de millas desde lugares como Australia o Filipinas hasta nuestras aguas cálidas. Por eso, no usamos bloqueador, ni siquiera el biodegradable. Ellos comen filtrando el agua y nuestra prioridad es no contaminar su alimento. Es una actividad regulada y ética, donde solo bajamos en grupos pequeños con guías certificados. 🛡️🐢
La aventura no termina ahí. Después del encuentro, navegamos hacia los arrecifes de "El Yunque" o "Ixla Che" para un snorkel rodeados de vida marina, delfines y rayas saltarinas. Y para cerrar con broche de oro: un ceviche fresco preparado a bordo, guacamole y fruta frente a las costas de Isla Mujeres. 🍍🥑🥥
