There’s something about the end of summer break that always makes me a little sentimental.

They say we only get 18 summers with our kids, and that sounds like plenty…until you realize how quickly they go.

This summer, I was lucky enough to get away with two of my boys, and as they get older, I’m reminded that family vacation time is limited. Someday, coordinating everyone’s schedules will be much harder. For now, I’m grateful for the dinners, the laughs, the inside jokes and simply having the time together.

Another summer in the books and another reminder that these trips don’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. ❤️

What do you get when a high school graduate asks for a trip centered around WWII history, Dad requests a beer tour to lighten the mood, and the whole family wants to experience Europe together? 🇩🇪🍻🏰

A pretty incredible graduation trip through Germany and Austria.

This family traveled through Munich, Nuremberg, Füssen and Salzburg, with an itinerary built around the things that interested them most. They explored WWII history on guided walking tours and a visit to Dachau Concentration Camp, stepped into a fairytale at Neuschwanstein Castle, visited Mozart’s Residence in Salzburg, and yes, Dad got his beer tour, too. 🍺

One of my favorite parts of their feedback was hearing that the trip never felt rushed. When we plan a multi-city European itinerary, that balance matters. You want to see and experience plenty without coming home feeling like you spent your entire vacation packing bags and racing to the next stop.
