The laca of Chiapa de Corzo it's origin in prehispanic with European Influences. In the ancient cultures of America used crusts of fruits like instrument of household and religious, some of this are the pumpkin, the tecomate, the jicara, the huacal, the pumpos, etc.
The arrival of the Spanish people, the technique paiting change in the objects that people painted.
During XX century was culminated the process of transformation of the original laca to be consider as a mestizo techique.

Traditions.
The most important celebration is “ La fiesta grande”. It is a religión celebration, it is traditional and popular. It i son January 8th to January 23th. It has prehispanic origin thas are fused this the Christianity between the centuries XVII and XVII. In this celebration you can see Parachicos who are part of the tradition.
This celebration is in honor of three “santos”: El Señor de Esquipulas, San Antonio Abad y San Sebastián Mártir.
You can see the chuntas, the Chiapanecas, the allegorical cars,” La Vaquita”,” Las Enramas”, the traditional music, the war of confetti, El Combate, la Pepita con Tasajo, el Puerco con arroz and el Cochito.

Ángel Albino Corzo Museum

Located in the central park of Chiapa de Corzo. Before to be a museum, this place was de house´s Ángel Albino Corzo castillejos, whom was a distinguished chiapacorceño, and defended to the state against invader troops. For this reason, Ángel Albino was proclaimed "Benemérito del sur" and Chiapa de Corzo has his last name since 1881.

In this place celebrates culture activities like exibitions, oratory competitions and books presentations.

Timetable: Every day is open. 9 - 14hrs and 16 - 21hrs.
