Cada año, millones de mariposas cruzan medio continente para llegar aquí. La pregunta es: ¿tú ya fuiste? 🦋🇲🇽

Cada temporada, millones de mariposas monarca llegan a los bosques de oyamel después de recorrer miles de kilómetros. Y verlas ahí, cubriendo los árboles y volando entre las montañas, es una de esas experiencias que te recuerdan lo impresionante que es México.

La temporada va de noviembre a marzo, pero si quieres verlas volando por el bosque, enero y febrero son de los mejores meses para hacerlo.

Las puedes encontrar en santuarios como El Rosario, Sierra Chincua, Senguio, Piedra Herrada y Cerro Pelón, entre Michoacán y el Estado de México.

👀 Ojo: los santuarios están en la montaña, así que lleva zapatos cómodos, agua y ropa en capas. Hace fresco y el terreno puede ser irregular.

Every season, millions of monarch butterflies arrive at the oyamel fir forests after traveling thousands of kilometers. And seeing them there, covering the trees and flying between the mountains, is one of those experiences that reminds you how impressive Mexico is.

The season runs from November to March, but if you want to see them flying through the forest, January and February are some of the best months to do it.

You can find them in sanctuaries like El Rosario, Sierra Chincua, Senguio, Piedra Herrada, and Cerro Pelón, between Michoacán and the State of Mexico.

👀 Heads up: the sanctuaries are up in the mountains, so bring comfortable shoes, water, and layered clothing. It gets cold and the terrain can be uneven.

This is what a Rutopía trip feels like. And this time, we’re telling it through the words of those who already lived it. 🌿

This video was born from real reviews from travelers who experienced Mexico with us: people who came back saying they didn’t know a trip could feel this real, easy, cared for, and connected to the place.

Behind every shot, there are traveler stories, local hosts sharing their territories, and people from our team and friends of Rutopía who showed up with time, energy, and so much heart to make this story feel real.

A big part of this was possible thanks to , who first joined us in 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, to help tell our first story. This year, he came back to help us tell this new chapter. ✨

Así se siente un viaje de Rutopía. Y esta vez lo contamos con las palabras de quienes ya lo vivieron. 🌿

Este video nació de reseñas reales de viajeros que vivieron México con nosotros: personas que regresaron diciendo que no sabían que un viaje podía sentirse así de real, fácil, cuidado y conectado con el lugar.

Detrás de cada toma hay historias de viajeros, anfitriones locales que comparten su territorio y personas del equipo y amigos de Rutopía que se sumaron con tiempo, ganas y muchísimo corazón para que esta historia se sintiera real.

Pregunta seria: ¿por qué nadie nos había dicho que Guanajuato y Querétaro se sentían así? 🇲🇽

Nos tocó vivir una de esas partes de México donde todo tiene historia: las calles, los callejones, las fachadas, la comida, los miradores y hasta los caminos entre un lugar y otro.

Hubo paseos por centros históricos, viñedos, rooftops, talleres, hoteles con mucha personalidad y momentos en los que alguien decía: "ok, esto sí lo tiene que vivir un viajero".

Porque cuando el equipo sale a conocer una ruta, no solo va a ver si el lugar está bonito. Va a probar, caminar, preguntar, entender qué detalles importan y descubrir qué experiencias se sienten de verdad.

Y esta ruta nos recordó algo: México todavía tiene muchísimas formas de sorprenderte.

Serious question: why had nobody told us Guanajuato and Querétaro felt like this? 🇲🇽

We got to experience one of those parts of Mexico where everything has a story: the streets, the alleys, the facades, the food, the lookout points, and even the roads in between.

There were walks through historic centers, vineyards, rooftops, workshops, hotels full of personality, and moments where someone would say: "ok, a traveler has to experience this."

Because when the team goes out to scout a route, it's not just about checking if the place looks pretty. It's about tasting, walking, asking, understanding what details matter, and finding out which experiences actually feel real.

And this route reminded us of something: Mexico still has so many ways to surprise you.

POV: te fuiste a Yucatán y ahora entiendes por qué todos hablan tanto de este lugar. 🌿💦

Porque sí, los cenotes se ven increíbles en fotos, pero estar ahí en la mañana, con el agua azulísima enfrente y el calor empezando a hacer lo suyo… no manches, pega distinto.

Y luego está todo lo demás: los pueblos con fachadas de colores, la comida que quieres volver a pedir aunque ya estés lleno, las artesanías que te dan ganas de llevarte “nomás tantito” y esos caminos donde de repente aparece una zona arqueológica como si nada.

Yucatán tiene ese mood de viaje donde empiezas el día en un cenote, sigues con un buen paseo, comes algo rico y de pronto ya estás pensando cuándo volver.

La neta, cada foto sale bonita… pero estar ahí se siente mucho mejor.

Because yes, cenotes look incredible in photos, but being there in the morning, with that bright blue water in front of you and the heat starting to do its thing… no manches, it hits different.

And then there’s everything else: colorful towns, food you want to order again even when you’re already full, handmade pieces you suddenly “just need to take home,” and those roads where an archaeological site casually shows up like it’s no big deal.

Yucatán has that kind of travel mood where you start the day in a cenote, keep going with a good walk, eat something delicious, and suddenly you’re already thinking about when to come back.

Neta, every photo looks beautiful… but being there feels even better.

Cosas que nadie te dice antes de viajar a México… pero que sí te salvan el viaje. 👀🇲🇽

Porque una cosa es venir con la maleta lista, y otra llegar sabiendo esos detallitos que hacen toda la diferencia.

Como que la comida mexicana no se acaba en los tacos, ni tantito. Cada estado tiene lo suyo, cada ciudad guarda sorpresas y a veces el mejor platillo del viaje es ese que ni sabías pronunciar cuando lo pediste.

O que moverte por México puede ser toda una aventura: cambias de clima, de paisaje, de acento y de mood en cuestión de horas.

No son reglas complicadas, son tips de compa. De esos que te ayudan a viajar más tranqui, entender mejor el ritmo del país y disfrutarlo sin sentir que vas improvisando todo.

Porque sí, todos conocemos los clásicos. Pero luego están esos lugares que no siempre salen en la primera búsqueda, aunque tienen todo para armar un viaje increíble.

🧭 Zozocolco con café y cascadas.
🌲 Capulálpam con montaña y tirolesa.
🏜️ Real de Catorce con desierto y túnel.
🦋 Angangueo con mariposas monarca.
🪆 Amealco con muñecas tradicionales y cultura otomí.

No son los que siempre ves en todos los itinerarios, pero justo ahí está lo chido.

México tiene rincones que no hacen tanto ruido… hasta que llegas y dices: “no manches, esto sí valía la vuelta”.

🏜️ Real de Catorce with desert landscapes and its famous tunnel.
🦋 Angangueo with monarch butterflies.
🪆 Amealco with traditional dolls and Otomí culture.

They’re not the ones you always see on every itinerary, but honestly, that’s part of what makes them so chido.

Mexico has corners that don’t make much noise… until you get there and think: “no manches, this was so worth the trip.”
