Puede causar eutrofización en la laguna; la eutrofización es el crecimiento de algas desproporcionalmente debido al acúmulo de desechos orgánicos Algunos de los brotes de algas producen tóxicos. Estas sustancias pueden ocasionar la muerte de animales al ser consumidas. Los animales afectados pueden actuar como vector afectando a otras especies y alcanzar a los humanos
La eutrofización afecta la calidad de las aguas ya que al aumentar la putrefaccion y agotarse el oxígeno, las aguas adquieren un olor nauseabundo. El olor de estas aguas puede ocasionar pérdidas económicas (turismo, áreas que pierden valor...), problemas respiratorios y su consumo puede ocasionar problemas sanitarios a las personas de la zona.

El Gavilán Caracolero es un ave que vuela sobre agua dulce y anida en arbustos o en el suelo. Pone de 3 a 4 huevos. Mide unos 45 cm de longitud y 120 cm de envergadura. Es una especie gregaria; forma grandes bandadas en invierno. El vuelo es lento, con la cabeza hacia abajo en busca de caracoles. Una vez localizado el caracol, lo captura y va a su rama favorita a comérselo.Con una pata se sujeta en la rama y en la otra sostiene al caracol.
Es un ave con un comportamiento interesante si te dedicas a conocerla . Su hábitat se encuentra en Bacalar, Quintana Roo, en América del sur tropical, Florida centro y sur y en las Antillas.
Sin duda un ave escencial , parte de este hermoso ecosistema.

Snail Kail is a bird that flies over fresh water and nests in shrubs or on the ground. It puts 3 to 4 eggs. It measures about 45 cm long and 120 cm in size. It is a gregarious species; Form-great flocks in winter. The flight is slow, head down in search of snails. Once The snail is located, it captures it and goes to its favorite branch to eat it.
It is a bird with an interesting behavior if you dedicate to know it. Its habitat is located in Bacalar, Quintana Roo, tropical South America Central ,South. Florida and in the Antilles.
Definitely an essential bird, part of this beautiful ecosystem.
