25 km from the town of Guerrero Negro, just after the border between Baja California Norte and Baja California del Sur, is the Ojo de Liebre Lagoon, famous for whale watching. These huge cetaceans are in fact wintering in the warm waters of Mexico, and from February to April you can see them. The lagoon is also famous for its huge saltpeters.

Precisely, in the Guerrero Negro lagoon is located "La Isla", an artificial island created to serve as a port for the salt cargo. Over the years, the island has accumulated sand in large quantities, giving rise to beautiful sand dunes.
