Fundación Astra - Helping out by giving back
Whether we live here full time, part time, or are just a visitor to La Paz, what better way to show our appreciation for this great place than to find a way to give back to the community. There are many ways to give back, but one such way is coming up next week. On Monday, March 17, at 6:00 pm, at Tiki Todd's Sports Bar in Centenario, there will be a fund raising event to support Fundación Astra, A.C., a non-profit foundation whose purpose is to provide free preventive medical services impoverished and marginalized coloinias from La Paz to Cabo, particularly women and children. Baja Life Realty is one of the sponsors of the event, along with Costa Hermosa Restaurant, San Juan Club Deportivo, Mi Cocina Cooking School, and many others, including the artists who will perform live that night. It will be a is a great opportunity to come together with others in the community for some great music, delicious food (including corned beef and cabbage for those who want to celebrate with a traditional St. Patrick's Day dinner), and a really wonderful cause. There will be a raffle for many great dinners, activities, and other prizes as well as an auction for bigger prizes.
The goal is to raise $10,000 USD to help keep the clinic open for the coming months, following serious cuts to funding that recently threatened the service with closure and loss of these amazing services for local families.
